Heading in for in-patient chemo in a few minutes. Doing 5 days in the hospital for it - this isn't the stem cell transplant that's looming on the horizon in December, but a round of chemo to put a stop to the growth beforehand. For anyone who is familiar with the regimens, they're giving me the TIP regimen (yes, I chuckled when that was said) that requires round the clock administration because of the variety of drugs being pumped in. After that is done, they'll give me the TICE regimen (no relation to the former Vikings coach) with the stem cell transplant.

Next few months is gonna suck for me baws. I'd appreciate any prayers and well wishes sent my way because I'm gonna need it. This crap is pure misery and I'm going to miss the holidays with my family from this. Docs are going to pump in a bomb on my immune system and I'll pretty much have to stay quarantined from society for the next 4-6 months.

Update (2/17/22): Today my doc decided I needed some motivation going into the final round of chemo and transplant because I had told him on the phone how awful I've felt over the last few weeks since the first transplant. He decided to show me the LDH levels in my blood, which is Lactase Dehydrogenase - a protein that shows tumor activity for my particular cancer. Normal levels in the blood vary, but from what I've been told the normal level that I'm being compared to for LDH is between 0 and 150. When this all started again back in October, my LDH level was near 450 - meaning the tumors were active and destroying tissue/organs. I've been through 3 rounds of chemo so far, the last one being high dose chemotherapy with a stem cell transplant. This past week my LDH level was at 146, the lowest level since I was diagnosed with cancer over a year ago - this is even lower than when I was considered in partial remission last summer. Doc says this is a big sign that the tumors are either dead or near death.

Is it over? Not yet. They're still going to send me in for the final blast of high dose chemo and the final transplant but my doc as told me that my chance of surviving this and going into full remission and possibly cured from this disease is around 90%. After the final round I'll go have the massive amount of bloodwork done and the various cat and pet scans, probably in April. But first I've gotta go through another round of the chemo bomb which I can tell you all from experience is just brutal. Just pure torture, hence why I was having some serious anxiety issues this week because I'm not looking forward to going through this again - but today's news certainly helped.

Good luck, man.

You're actually the reason I went to the doctor recently to have my sack checked after experiencing some discomfort (luckily no issues) but I likely would have put it off had it not been for you sharing with us.

I'm pulling for you.

Healing prayers headed your way, my
Man. I sincerely admire your attitude. It’s off the topic, but sometimes when a man demonstrates good cheer and courage at a time like this, it’s a big wake up call for all of us complaining schlubs out here bitching about nothing. Thanks for being the example.
