Stanford didn't confirm shite. This opinion piece referenced another opinion piece that inserted specualtion into Stanfords numbers.
At no point does he give any evidence as to what flu statistics he is comparing to. He cherrypicked a certain demographics fatality rate then (best I can tell) applied it as comparison rate to the entire flu fatality rate in order to find comparative numbers.
I'm not saying his conclusion is right or wrong, just that nothing in this bullshite opinion piece, presented as factual news, uses data that wasn't perverted to come to a predrawn conclusion
