St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Randy Smith is preparing to resign as early as Wednesday, according to a source familiar with the matter, following a plea deal that he's expected to agree to in 22nd Judicial District Court during a hearing set for Wednesday morning.
The resignation and plea deal, if it proceeds as planned, would mark a stunning end to Smith's decades in law enforcement in St. Tammany. News of the planned resignation came the same day that Chief Deputy Jeff Boehm, a top deputy to Smith, abruptly resigned and was replaced by another senior Sheriff's Office leader.

These should not be packaged together.

Wasn’t there a murder over there a few years ago he was involved in?

What a dummy. Wonder if the whole thing was worth it to him?

No. There was a high profile murder he did a shite job of investigating that still remains “unsolved.”

Ahh yes. I vaguely remember. Fire Chief wife or something?
Or am I just way the frick off.
It was always a good discussion on here.

It's tough to vote a sheriff out of office in Louisiana, even when everyone knows the sheriff is a dirtbag. Many thanks to Couvillion for taking a punch.
