Right. I decided I should wait until the trial to form an opinion
At first I was sure it was murder. Now I realize there is another side to the story and it could've been justified. But I still have a hard time with the way it was handled, like EMS not being called. And I feel like he could've responded differently
Good. Hopefully the people of Ferguson and the surrounding areas will achieve the same enlightenment you have.

And then a few hours after that, when I'd resigned myself to it being a simple case of cop pursuing bad guy, the police chief casually mentions the cop didn't initially make contact with the deceased for anything other than walking in the (side) street
looks like someone needs to learn what initially means.
Many dope runners are initially pulled over speeding.
See how that works, initially you see a guy in the street, subsequently you make a connection between him and the nearby robbery, I don't see what is so hard to understand, initially.
tigerfoot, please note it. My initial thought is that you should probably step away anyhow.

Well, the problem now is, no one knows the cops' actions. Or the dead guys. It's all speculation.
EMS was called. The ridiculous side claims about "not releasing the body" and "EMS not being called" and all those should probably be ignored.

Cops' is plural. It was in response to this

Not reading through all this but how the frick is looting allowed? Why arent these animals being arrested or the national guard being brought in?

I would imagine many of them will be arrested and we'll probably never hear about it. It might be a month from now or 6 months from now. The looters are known, the looters are videotaped, the looters even gave interviews. They can be rounded up at any point and I'd suspect/hope that that is done but at a time that isn't going to result in 10 more businesses get destroyed because of 1 arrest.

Noted.

Nice subtle attack on white criminals.

Covered faces mostly. You seem to think they will all be caught and/or punished for their crimes.

Should it not be?
You should have corrected dead guys to guy's.

I think the EMS claims arise, wrongfully so, but arise from the fact that a woman at the scene of the shooting who many at the scene speculated was MB's mom was shouting "Where's the ambulance?!?! Where's the ambulance?!?!" What the people that take that and spin it into the EMS weren't called are missing is that EMS was called and that the guy was clearly dead so they weren't bringing the EMS right up to him to try to bring him back from the dead.

I didn't catch this gem yesterday, from another in the long line of Horrible St.Louis City politicians(his daughter is just as useless). I give you Virvus Jones
quote:
Virvus Jones @VirvusJ · 21h Folks, the police chief & prosecutor has set up the perfect storm for a no prosecution or not guilty verdict. Jury pool in MO tainted.

RAd. I connect rioting to spontaneous protesting as being natural ... as casper has already confirmed. I defend my position based on what I have already witnessed in the "old" part of your description of me.
The rioting just may not have happened if the protest had not have taken place.

Oh. I don't know who's who in the video or how long after the actual shooting EMS showed up. I was basing that off of an article from much earlier about EMS not being called for hours or something. As much as I try to follow this, I'm still very misinformed

quote:100% correct. There is no reason. Therefore there is a very high probability that it did not happen.
No reason to shoot someone that surrenders

I hear ya. Some will likely get away. Even if LE moved in with force, some would have probably gotten away. Look, it was a no win situation no matter what. Personally, I'd rather see things de-escalate first and then mete out justice.

If you don't think unarmed white people are being shot on an almost weekly basis, you're not paying attention. This is a bigger issue than black/white. I'd invite you to read policemisconduct.net or check out the Free Thought Project on the webs.

But what is an ambulance going to do with a dead guy?
Nothing. Once death is announced body is left in place for coroner and investigation.

Are they still protesting today?

How many people, including officers, would be killed and/or injured in this scenario?
So let anarchy reign. Maybe if the police is not equipped to handle this, we should get them what they need. Oops that is what everyone is arguing against.
But I tell you one thing - if "demilitarization" of the police means letting unabated crime occur and get rationalized - then I am switching sides in the debate.
quote:
And yes I know all of you think the looters are "savage animals"
You don't?
quote:
I think it would take more than looting and destruction of property for any law enforcement agency to pursue this path.
Then pull the hell out and let the city stew in its own juices. If straight our rioting and looting is not enforcement worthy then why be there at all.
Nothing, absolutely nothing, can be worse then having law enforcement purposefully and willingly watch such violent acts of crime and do nothing.
quote:
This is what occurred last night. There's only so much citizens can do but many guarded businesses, put out fires, ect to keep things contained.
quote:
There are people of all races, creeds, and colors who are inherently bad. They do no care about your low opinions and talk of stereotypes. When you generalize all black people with this segment of the population is when you lose the opportunity for any meaningful discussion
When people out of political correctness ignore the clear trend of how certain segments of certain populations end, then you lose the opportunity to be part of any meaningful discussion.
When the release of evidence that a person committed robbery creates riot and looting - and such was predictable because of the trend of a segment of a segment of a population - how is it meaningful to pretend that such differences and trends do not exist.
And no one is saying 'all', but we have decades of riots and looting to show us. Every single person in this country knows that if Michael was any other color and had been shot like this - the reaction of his community would be nothing like the riot and looting we have seen. That is not even a discussion point. So to pretend acknowledging that obvious hinders reasonable discussion is willful ignorance at best and a lot of other things at worse.
