The interview of a family friend said cop turned around and approached after he heard the robbery description.
When he got to brown he opened the door, brown jumped him and there was a struggle for the gun at one time being pointed at the officer.
Gun went off and Brown ran. Brown eventually stopped during the pursuit, turned around, talked crap to the officer with his hands up, then ran towards him again. Officer fired in order to defend himself, with the last shot being to the head.
Friend said it appeared Brown was on something.

basically, watch the video from the scene, ems does show up. obvious death only requires a 4 lead to confirm pulselessness, afterwards the medic calls the coroner or doctor in charge and lets him know, coroner comes out and retrieves the body (after crime scene is investigated and released by police)
eta: in this video: LINK at 3:15 you see the emt hook him up to the monitor, then call it in.

Cop asks kids to get out of street and they refuse. Goes up ahead of them and calls for backup.
Gets the call on the robbery, and recognizes them and the cigars.
Pulls up to stop them opens door, door hits brown, cop opens door back and Brown jumps on him.
Cop goes for gun and Brown grabs it, first shot is fired.
Brown goes about 35 ft out and turns around and taunts cop after being told to freeze. Brown takes off running back at cop and cop fires again. Last shot being in the forhead.

Wait, Al Jazeera said that the info of the cop was released today, days after state law requires.

it's just as valid as anything the other witnesses have said. they don't believe cause they don't wanna believe the officer isn't in the wrong.
