The issue isn’t with kids getting sick or dying from it. The issue is with kids being carriers and teachers/staff spreading it. What happens if there’s an outbreak amongst teachers? What do you do?
There’s a ton of unanswered legit questions. And no one has the answers to them.

What parish was this in? St. Landry is your typical poor rural parish. Lots of single parent homes that have very little computer or Internet experience beyond using the Facebook app on their phone.
School Board IT staff are not allowed to enter homes. Many rural homes have no access to wired Internet and no cell coverage for mobile hotspots.
A lot of single working moms relied on school attendance for their kidssss while at work. Now they will need daycare to watch their kids. Guess who will pay for that.

And how bout we get a deferral on property taxes that go to the schools? I’m paying an additional $600/year for a brand new school that’s not even open. Charge me when you start using it.

The technology is there, maybe it's time to evolve the classroom into the 21st century, colleges do it and all this ends up being is a bitch fest about parents having to work, from the same people who complain how useless teachers are and how school is glorified babysitting

We send our kids to private school and we’ve already paid tuition for the year. There plans are to open as normal but I’ve already heard of some teacher squawking about it. I can see a scenario where they close or only open a couple of days a week and try to keep our tuition. Give the teachers a choice, stay home without pay or go to work. Silo the classrooms, put up plexiglass between the teachers and students, there’s common sense solutions but that doesn’t give teachers a year off.

Yeah, I had to deal with satellite internet on an old job of mine. $120/month for up to 18 Mbps up and down. On average we were clocking 3 Mbps
