Unfortunately it’s been well documented that St. Jude is one of the worst “charities” to give to based on every dollar donated

As a parent of a former STJ patient. THANK YOU to every donor who helped save my son’s life.
He’s been cancer free for 20years and well on his way to a happy and healthy adulthood

But everyone hates Catholics and wishes the church goes bankrupt???
I hope that doesn’t happen for Jude’s sake.

My daughter starts working there today in the research lab.
We are a little bit proud of her.

This is the only charity that we want to leave some money for in our will. I did not know about the St. Jude Home Raffles. Can anyone from anywhere buy these? Also how is the area for the Lake Charles one? Everywhere else that we would want is sold out or has been given away already.

You should be, that’s a great accomplishment.

I personally wouldn’t participate in anything that lake Charles was in charge of or involved in. Very corrupt and amongst the most selfish people you will ever meet. I’ve been everywhere, this is a fact.

This was almost 20 years ago but I’m sure it’s the same today. I was a student at the Baptist hospital in Memphis and my instructors husband was a surgeon in the area. They said that hospital was so picky their staff would rather work a little more than hire someone “just to fill a spot” to keep the quality high.

Probably .91 of every dollar to Red Cross does NOT go to charity
Yep Red Cross is a fricking scam. That original post should be removed so people don’t think it’s a good idea to give to a group that skims every donation.

Most of my donations to charity go to st Jude.
Same. If you can setup autopay. It helps them know exactly how much $ they bring in monthly which makes budgeting easier. Plus you won’t get all the mail forms throughout the year asking for donations.
No better charity IMO.

Local radio here used to do a telethon every year. The testimonials just make you cry.
I know a lot of TV stations do a St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway.
Are these safe? Or is a complex agreement where only a small percentage of the raffle ticket goes to St. Jude and the rest maybe going to building the home, TV station for marketing, the drawing, and administrative cost for the raffle.

We build one of the St. Jude Dream Homes each year and it’s always my favorite project. I’ve had the chance to meet survivors and their families, and attending the builder summit on the Memphis campus is an incredible experience. What St. Jude does for these kids and their families is incredible. The daily operating cost is around $1.5 to 2 million. The Dream home program brings in roughly $55 million yearly. They have so many fundraising campaigns they do.

St. Jude and Dr Frederick Boop (yeah Boop) saved my little girls life. Multiple brain surgeries. Never once saw a bill. First night there I lost it a little trying to find popcorn in the cafeteria, they had just closed and all this emotion I’d been holding in came flooding out. Random lady cleaning up just came up to me and hugged me and cried with me. I never even got her name or saw her again.

It will be 6 years this August since a good friend of mine's sister in law lost their daughter.
She was in second grade, I think it as April of that year. 2019. One day when she picked up her daughter from school she was crying because of a headache. Long story short, the next day they were flying to St. Jude. St. Jude did everything they could do for her, but sadly, there was nothing that could save her.. They spend over 4 months there and didn't pay a cent.
Although there was nothing they could do for her, they do really good things there. I can't think of anything that deserves donations more than a hospital that provides free quality healthcare to children who are extremely sick while making sure the parents are taken care of as well.
