Hey my precinct went 54% Clinton and 51% Broome. So there's hope!

Gissel would have won 54-46 had he made the runoff vs. Broome.

So fricking ready for St. George.
I see this making another push with greater results in the near future.

Sharon worries me. Every chat with her quickly turns to race. Melvin was a good guy that always talked about BR. Bodi never excited me either. This parish is still just way too divided, politically, along racial lines.

My hope is she tones down the rhetoric realizing if she continues it she won't accomplish a damn thing.

Vegas took the St. George odds off board. It's a lock.

It’s time that for our part of town to get its fair share.
Does this mean that the north will get equal to what they earn, and work for, or is this another way of saying redistribution of other people's money?

I always hear politicians from NBR complain about how all of the infrastructure improvements happen in the white side of the parish. I have to point out that those areas that now have 80,000 white people livin there, 30 years ago had maybe 10,000 people living there. The roads were mostly farming roads, many unpaved. At the same time, NBR had even more people than it does now. NBR already has underground sewers, streetlights, a comprehensive road grid, 4-lane highways running N/S and E/W, and sidewalks. Their infrastructure isn't being developed on now because it's already been developed.
There are 4 reasons NBR struggles to attract investment:
1. The population lacks the disposable income to support any more retail than they currently have. If this were not the case, then the Cortana mall would not be struggling as it is.
2. The high crime keeps away people who have money from living there (Exxon employees and state workers) even though it would significantly shorten their commutes.
3. The schools are awful, but that's an issue in much of the Parish.
4. The older vacant structures were built long before modern building codes and would be prohibitively expensive to retrofit to meet modern ADA codes, modern electrical codes, and lack the space to accomidate the requisite number of parking spaces without a varience from the zoning commission. This causes vacant properties to stay vacant once they become too run-down to support businesses without major renovations.

If a resident of NBR decides they would like to open a widget manufacturing business in NBR, are they going to get money from NBREDD to bring a facility up to code?
If they are well versed in manufacturing widgets, have a feasible business plan, and intend to hire20 full time workers, who pays the start-up costs?
Does NBREDD vacuum up tax money from other parts of the parish and re-distribute it to the inner city for these types of worthwhile businesses?
Who funds NBREDD and where does the money come from that they intend to distribute around the community?
What kind of checks and balances will there be to assure that the money is not siphoned off?

This is completely different. St. George basically was trying to secede from Baton Rouge

St George is not trying to succeed from Baton Rouge
That area is unincorporated EBRP and all the people want to do is form their own city to have better services and schools.
If the City of Baton Rouge cannot make it financially if St George incorporates the city is spending money that should be going toward parish services.
This should be a reason why the city of BR and the EBRP govt should be split.

You are either ignorant or an idiot, I don't care which. The area trying to incorporate as St. George WAS NEVER A PART OF BATON ROUGE and would remain in East Baton Rouge parish.
