Can't happen. State law changed after the last petition. No annexations of the proposed new incorporated area after officially submitted. Also signatures can not be revoked more than 5 days after signing. That's basically the reason it fell just short last time.

I think what they're saying is that the law is poorly written, making it look as if there can be annexations after the 270 days.

Of course the Advocate would go find staunch anti-St George POS lawyer Olive Pearson for her comments and of course, they are anti-St George.

This would bankrupt the city. Then legal battles will develope as black people will say whites are changing the racial makeup of BR.

And isn't that exactly what this St. George issue is all about?

That's not what is motivating SGeans.

It's more local control over our affairs and our own school district.

BR and the balance of the parish going broke is preposterous unless you think Broome and the C-P Council are that incompetent.

A petition to bring the City of St. George to a parish-wide vote is expected to be turned in today. More than 16-thousand signatures will have to be verified by the East Baton Rouge Parish Registrar's Office.

Nope, only those in the proposed area get to vote. Only need about 13K, not 16K. Reporter is originally from Mississippi, damned outsiders.

This will not affect the racial makeup of the city. This has nothing to do with the city.
