I am curious to know what happens to the students who live in the proposed city of St. George but attend one of the Magnet schools outside of St. George but inside EBR Parish. For instance if you have a child that is currently a Junior at Baton Rouge Magnet or Lee Magnet High School and you reside in St. George will they be kicked out of school on Monday if this passes on Saturday? I know that won't happen but what about next school year? There has to be some kind of transitional period so that St. George can get things set up and that's not going to happen between Saturday and next August when school starts again.

This vote doesn’t instantly create an ISD.

It would be really dumb to take those kids out of school if those parents/kids want to remain there because the school loses a good bit of federal/state funding when they lose students.

Back in 2015 when I first even got a whiff of SG, I was told that Woodlawn High would become "Southeast High ISD" and have not heard anything like that since. Not sure how the formalities and transitions would even work.

No worries. Your child will attend Belaire for 2 years. And then you will be placed on the waiting list for Donald J Trump Magnet.

Absolutely nothing.

Saturday’s election doesn’t affect public schooling at all.

Oh, for crying out loud.

The sky is not falling.

If it passes, the kids will stay in their respective schools

I'm interested to see what becomes of the existing EBRSS schools that are located in what would be the new St. George. In fact, the school system is currently building a brand new Jefferson Terrace Academy being build next to BCBS off of Bluebonnet (though that area may be carved out of the proposed St. George).

Nope. That’s all St. George.

Essentially, nothing happens. A new ISD will be years off if ever.

If St George fails, Prarieville property will be a gold mine.

It'll be a sad day when the term "Weedlawn" exits the BR lexicon.
