Nope. According to recent changes in the law, once a petition for incorporation is in place NO annexation can occur

Ahh, so they can't pull the old "annex the commercial tax base" trick again?

Gardere and the Millerville neighborhoods are excluded this time. If St. George can create a good school district, I'll have no issues pulling my kids out of private school and putting them in a public school.

And don't act like people from Central and Zachary didn't pull their kids from private schools and put them into their new public school system.

So it's weird now. You are out the city and your neighbor is in.

We don't like white people bc they keep the black community down... but we don't want the white people to leave.

Looks like they cut the Gardere area out this time.

What is St. George's plan to build schools, invest in teachers, and overall education?

Many of the schools here in NW Houston are amazing but they aren't cheap. Just wondering if St. George plans to raise money from property taxes or other means?

That was the secondary effect. It was John Delgado's plan to change the boundary lines thus nullifying the petition proposal.

Yes. And looking at the new 2018 St. George map, I won't be in that either... on an island of unincorporated EBR.

Ironically, TogetherBatonRouge supported the creation of a new taxing district in North Baton Rouge.

But they are angry about the same thing happening in unincorporated east Baton Rouge Parish.

What does the school district have to do with having a good or bad school?
The school is either good or bad b/c of the students that attend it, not who's on the school board.
How do you create a good school district?

pretty sure the attendance at all the catholic elementary schools has done nothing but rise over the years.

I'm not an insider, but the plan seems to be to form a city first, get organized as a city, and then try and get an independent school system.

St. the George doesn't automatically get a school system. People would have to fight that battle next if they so choose.

Zachary was a city for a long time before they formed an ISD. So was Baker. St. George could be a city and still be in the EBRSS. Nobody knows for sure.

Yes, and I believe it would be an even tougher battle than creating the city.

They were also instrumental in gerrymandering a taxing district for CATS.

Is it going to make my property taxes go down?
No, actually way up, according to one economic study. The StG folks had one done, but the company that did it included tax revenue generated from the North BR industrial area. The study concluded that no increase in property taxes would be needed. However, Faulk & Winkler did another study without that glaring error, and they concluded that the only way for StG to fulfill its promises was to institute a drastic increase in property taxes. Naturally, the StG folks rejected this conclusion and stood by the study that they paid for.

A school district with a social agenda, a school district with a bloated staff, a school district that doesn't demand discipline, and a school district that favors some students over others isn't going to be a good school district.
