So EBR annexes the Mall to stick it to the City of St. George Movement, but in the process takes funding away from the existing St. George Fire District. Even with the new source of funding for EBR still the St. George Fire District has to put out the fires for EBR. This jut shows that the focus of EBR is not about inclusion but screwing the unincorporated area of the parish.

TBH there should only be one fire department for the entire parish. Same for the LEO's. Get rid of EBR Fire and BRPD in favor of EBR Sheriff and SGFD

St George provides fire protection for parts of the city of BR becsuse BRFD can not cover certain areas.
BR wants their tax revenues, but can't provide city services.

I hope SGFD is being fully compensated. BR should be paying SGFD on a regular basis.

Your title is misleading as frick. Not all of the mall is incorporated as some of it still falls under the protection of SG. The article also said that no hose was used as the small fire was put out with an extinguisher.

The anchor stores are not in the city, but the mall itself is.
And SGFD did respond and did investigate because BRFD can't serve the entire city.

And who cares if a hose was used?

The only problem is the metro council controls the fire districts. They diid talk about a Parish Fire dept and one parish law enforcement agency. The union that represents BRPD police officers and the union that represents BRFD firemen put that discussion out quickly.

Now if St George becomes a city and wants to make the Fire Dept a city service like Baker’s Fire Dept and Zachary’s Fire Dept they could tell BR to pound sand. They can also charge what they want to service areas that BRFD needs coverage. If the city does not like it they can deny servicing the area. Right now an area right outside the City limits of Baker is serviced by Zachary’s Fire Dept. Baker is closer, but felt the money EBRP Metro Council was offering to cover this area was not covering Baker Fire Dept’s operating cost to service the area.

The only way to solve all this is to separate The City of BR from The Parish Government . They need to have separate legislative representation and the funding needs to be separate.

Did EBR personnel, equipment, materials show up? No. Did it cost money for STGFD to show up? Yes. Was it in the EBR portion of the MALL? Yes. Now go get your shine box.

It's not the EBRFD that provides BR fire protection, it's the BRFD.

SG and BRFD have a mutual aid agreement. No coverages have changed since the annexations. BRFD responds to twice as many calls (if not more) in SG areas than do SG in Baton Rouge’s. I can’t tell you how many times the news screws up who actually put out the fire or made a rescue bc it was in SG district but was actually BRFD that was on scene first and handled the incident

So why didn't BRFD roll out?

ETA: They can roll their truck over to Hooters and Twin Peaks on Siegen to get a discount on their food, but they can't roll to the Mall for a fire call?

As with any agency assigned with that type of work, they will just take care of it instead of letting it burn waiting on someone else to respond. And if you're going to quote someone, don't quote being the guy that got beat to nothing, stabbed, shot, buried, dug up and buried again.
