Squatting in Louisiana in empty house - how to prevent this

The house next to us is empty, abandoned for years but in great shape. Yesterday people came by, checked it out, went in it and said they plan to move in. I asked about the owner and they said they don't know him or need his permission.They claim sovereign citizenship, lol.
We don't know who owns it. We don't want squatters there. I think an old lady owns it but went into a nursing home. Her stuff is still in there.We cut the grass and keep it nice looking.
What are Louisiana laws on squatting? How can we prevent this?

I’m not much help other than saying at least this is happening in Louisiana and not California or another state where they have more rights than actual tenants

Have the family call the police as soon as the squatters try to enter/live there.

Call the parish tax assessor and find the owner and contact information.

There was a big story on this in New Orleans last summer. The frickers that do this know just enough of the law to keep the police from intervening.
I would start off by calling the Sheriff's Office and the Constable's Office. They are the ones who deal with this kind of thing.

You definitely need to play some offense. Whatever you do, keep in mind that they will have a crap bucket that will eventually need to be emptied.
