Spinoff: Heaven and Serial Killers

I was wondering what majority of people's beliefs are on this matter. Serial killer thread got me thinking about this.
I'm a Baptist, but not overly religious.
I have a hard time believing/accepting that you can murder multiple people, be a bad person all your life and just repent before death and still get in the pearly gates. The Bible says he will but it defeats the whole purpose of encouraging good morals/ actions for life if you can escape the consequences right before the end.

Doing exactly this means you don’t go to Heaven. God knows what is truly in your heart. Just because you can bull shite your priest or minister, doesn’t mean you’ve bull shitted God.

Considering most serial killers are clinical psychopaths, their capacity for remorse is essentially zero. Now you can make the argument that they didn't choose to be psychopaths and that some trauma early in their life pushed them down that road and it was all out of their hands from the start. Is that really fair to damn them to eternal torture because of something outside their control that made them what they are? Who knows? You can really go deep on some philosophical and theological issues surrounding free will, mental health, and eternity, but alas, it's New Years Eve, so let's not worry about it, let's get drunk, and let's blow some shite up.

It’s like deathbed repentance ....
You can be a shite person and commit crimes but right before you die , you admit you’re a sinner, admit belief in Jesus and call upon him to enter your heart and boom it’s done
Seems way too easy

Thanks for your thoughts. Maybe you should start your own thread instead of hijacking this one.

This is exactly the scenario that played out with Jesus and the thief as they both hung on their crosses.

It’s deflating to think that Adolf Hitler and Mother Theresa could be inhabiting the same cold, dark nothingness right now. But if there’s no afterlife, that is sadly the case.

Can anyone prove to me there was a Jesus or heaven.

Josephus Flavius, a Jew who became a favorite of the Roman emperor, specifically speaks of a Jesus when making contemporary accounts of the history of Judea. The historicity of Jesus is fairly solid.

That sounds easy and all. If they truthfully believe they were wrong and repent, then welcome aboard. But I have a hard time believing someone could be evil all their lives and truthfully admit they were wrong at the last moment.

Ya know, that’s exactly what a demon would say...

The existence of a man named Jesus whose life changed the trajectory or human history is solid.
Wether or not he was the Messiah is a matter of faith.

To me, repenting of sins is more than just saying it with your mouth. It’s saying it with your heart and soul. It’s actually letting the love of Christ change your heart. If a person, including a serial killer, isn’t repenting with their heart and isn’t actually seeking to change, then they probably haven’t really “repented.”

Can you prove many of the things you believe in your heart to be true and know in your mind to be real? If you put some thought into it, my bet is that you act on faith a lot in life even though you can’t really prove it with tangible proof so to say.

The existence of Jesus is well-established fact. Even the Abrahamic religions that don’t see him as the Messiah acknowledge his existence. The only “debate” people have is whether he is who he said he is (Messiah, the Son of God, etc.). I believe he is the Messiah.

The Bible also warns repeatedly to be prepared at all times. You will know neither the hour nor the day. That doesn't actually mean Jesus might come back at any moment - it means the the world can end for any of us at any moment.

Can you prove that you've never sucked a dick?
