Yes...took about a month break, then got back together (while in college). We wound up getting married...
....then got divorced 16 years later.

Your sarcasm is noted. Bro.

When didn't call it a break, we broke up. Dated other folks, then ended up back together about 6 months or so later.

Thanks. You're right--not what I want to hear but helpful nonetheless.
I'm no spring chicken. In my mid (arguably late) 30s and have never felt for a woman what I do for her. She's so smart and just a genuinely interesting person to be around, something that I've never found in Baton Rouge. I've never met a girl that I'm actually proud to show off to my friends and colleagues.
My fear is that I move on, never find someone like her, and one day regret that I didn't do everything I could to make it work.
Are you unwilling to go with her?

Going with her would be career suicide for me. It hasn't really been discussed as an option.

She can do all the wedding planning she wants, but he runs the show.
If not, GTFO.

You can only do your part though. If she's not at least equally committed (and she obviously isn't) then this relationship is asymmetrical. The relationship does not have a shot to equalize as long as that dynamic remains the same. In fact, the only way to possibly have any chance with her in the future is to let her go. Doing anything else at this point to try to make it work will only make it worse IMO.
Just make a clean break. She has different priorities right now.

Just read your Dubai thread. Honestly I don't see her coming here for 6 months is such a weird thing. She'll be able to pocket money for your wedding, or your house-whatever y'all want to use the money for. It's good for her career. Sounds fine to me. My husband traveled a lot when we were engaged and our first year of marriage. It sucked, but he was able to pocket money and helped his career. Total win.
Set a date for your wedding for a year from now. Go visit her here, but don't come till January. It was 118 today. fml.

Thanks for the advice. It's probably spot on. I've just never felt like this before. I can't bear the thought of being without her, and the thought of life without her makes me physically I'll. I feel like I can't breath when I think of her with someone else, and want to get on my knees and beg her to stay. Beta, I know, but I never thought a woman could do this to me.
