I can see that. It is more practical. I am talking about these guys buying a Fx4 F150 to drive around town, while they work in a cubical. I see this more often where I work. Tire's for those things are $1000.

Not necessarily.

Do you know what they do in their free time? Besides owning a home of course

I just walked by one, and that thing was sparking clean
I have my doubts it is ever taken off road.

I sold my Saturn before I moved to NYC.
I haven't done my own construction work since moving here. Some minor renovation work, but nothing you can't carry on the subway.
There's no way in hell you could justify having a bigass pickup truck here
. Parking alone screws those with small cars much less big ones.
Whenever I move we just hire movers and let them deal with it. For what it costs to live here that's small potatoes.

I have no idea how you're getting 19mpg on your Ecoboost. I do city and highway driving and I average 14.5.

Heavy foot and bigger tires likely.

if I didn't need a truck to tow shite, I'd be in a suburban. But I can't do what I do w/o a truck so...

My question to those of you without trucks, do you really find that you need one often and miss having one? What do you do about it?
Posted on 6/23/15 at 4:34 pm to LNCHBOX
I really don't feel like I have a heavy foot but maybe I do.
Tires are all terrain. Not very aggressive at all. A little bigger though. Went with 275/60

I get about the same mileage as you
I have 275/65 but will probably go 60 next time for a little better

Well I get done off-roading I strip down and thrown dirty clothes in bed with boots.
Can't do that in anything but a truck

If I need a truck bad enough..it's like $40 at enterprise. My 4runner's rear window goes all the way down so long stuff I can just just kay the seats down and stick it through with no problems.

But I can't stomach the amount of granola needed to drive a Subaru
If I weren't married, I would be driving a BMW or one of those new little Cadillac things and living in the city....not a Subaru Outback or a pickup truck and a house in the suburbs.
None of the crossovers like the Explorer or Pathfinder appealed to me even a little. They seemed to much like minivans. I would like something like the older Pathfinder, Jeep Cherokee, or the Trailblazer....but those are not around anymore.
Next time I may look at a Chevy Colorado or GMC Canyon. Perhaps a Tacoma if they ever update them.

I think that having the ability to rent a pickup from uhaul for $20 a day has currently swayed me in selling my pickup assume getting by with a van. It s sounds like a lot of you make it work.

Not true. Can do the same thing in a Jeep Wrangler with top off/onn. Take seats and carpet out and hose out interior....there is a drain plug in the floor you can pull for water to drain out

I own a boat, which necessitates a truck. I could certainly make do with an SUV, but I'd rather be able to throw dirty stuff (bucket of shrimp/water, dirty shoes, etc) in the bed of the truck. Not to mention, the truck is far less expensive than an equivalent SUV.

U haul will rent you a truck for like $15 and around 30 cents a mile

Maybe once or twice a year im like "this would be easier with a truck"
And usually I can find a friend or family member willing to let me use it if it's that serious
