The stupid waste of money known as the Affordable Connectivity Program is paying Spectrum by the foot to lay high speed internet cable. They want to come through 6 miles of my property.

At least it isn't going to Ukraine was exactly what the Spectrum rep said. Anyway, they haven't offered me a penny to come through. Anyone dealt with this program? Is there a going rate?

Then I guess they aren't coming through, right?

Then when you’re gone at work, they’ll be laying cable in your wife.

Ask them if they're willing to lay pipe as well.

I think it's fair to expect a good sum of money from them, especially considering it's your tax dollars giving them a likely bloated government contract.

It's mountains and it's switchback windy roads not 6 straight miles.

They are doing it through an easement and you can't fight it, or they are doing it through eminent domain, which you also can't fight.

They are going to run that fiber through your property. It will happen. Spend as much money on lawyers as you want, but it's going to happen.

Tell them no need. I laid a bunch of cable while you were at work yesterday.

So it is an easement, or are these your private roads?

If there is an easement, there is not much you can do. If there is no easement, there can be a negotiated offer. If it is eminent domain, you should be compensated at fair market value, although you will disagree with what their market assessment says.

This is the question. If it's easement, you should thank them for having the GD common courtesy to at least let you know. Comcast didn't tell me shite before they started tearing up the back 20 feet along the whole length of my property

Last time I checked, you can't force someone to have a PRIVATE utility (or pipeline, etc.) across private property via easement or servitude. That is a something that must be agreed to and negotiated by both parties. And private companies like Spectrum do NOT have the governmental power of eminent domain.

See what you can get out of them. If it's not enough to satisfy you, tell them to plan another route.

Nothing you can do. It could be giant steel transmission towers running through the middle of your cow pastures. That's everywhere. If you had livestock, you could claim they caused the death of one of them when he ate leftover materials or something and try to get a pay off. That's how some farmers vent their frustration
