This is good....

quote:

I’m 22, out of school, and will not graduate. I didn’t even like what I was studying in school (art-related) and I’ve changed majors three times now. Besides, I’ve never been good at it, and university has gotten me depressed, which is why I dropped out. The sadder part of my dropping out is that I can no longer afford an education anyway. Right now I am working eight hours a week at the library, and although it isn’t a difficult job, I don’t enjoy it. I applied because I thought that maybe since I liked the library, working there (and eventually working my way up) would be what I could do for the rest of my life. But I’m one month in and dreading it like all my other jobs in the past. I get ridiculously bored.

quote:

If I go back to retail it’ll be a few months before I quit again. The library doesn’t pay me a lot; I’m living paycheque to paycheque, and on welfare.

oh, Brexit, you poor bastard

Doesn't the big bad boss know that he was supposed to cave? After all, they did present a petition.

Sensing your mood with this...In the intern's defense, this is what they have seen happen repeatedly on campuses, in newsrooms, in Washington and locally in politics. I am sure they really WERE shocked...lol.

IF ONE of the interns had called home and talked to a parent about what they were going to do....

She actually got a lot of value from that internship. She learned a life lesson: work for yourself or tow the line.

has to be a hoax because no snowflake has the ability to concentrate long enough to write that wall of text.

The worst part is that just before the meeting ended, one of the managers told us that the worker who was allowed to disobey the dress code was a former soldier who lost her leg and was therefore given permission to wear whatever kind of shoes she could walk in. You can’t even tell, and if we had known about this we would have factored it into our argument.

So she was outraged at the "unfair treatment" and failed to consider that special circumstances might apply to the person who was exempt, or rather, "allowed to disobey." If only she had been informed, she would have made an even more perfect proposal considerate of everyone's feelings. Human nature intact, same as it ever was.

I honestly would not have fired them for this but would have laughed my arse off at this and took the time to advice not to do that again.

A large portion of it was a great response...well reasoned, thoughtful and professional.

Snowflake would not have read it unless it was posted on FB.

Stopped reading after he starts whining about not being able to do things that employees can do. I bet he had a cry session the first time he was asked to make someone coffee.

I love this part

Um, hey snowflake. You learned another valuable lesson. Often, those in leadership will make perfectly sound decisions that they don't feel the need to then broadcast to the entire organization. You aren't ENTITLED to "know" all of the whys. I dunno. Maybe the veteran didn't want it advertised because they didn't want to be a sympathy case? Whatever the reason, you little petty interns didn't need to know.

Oh, and what do you mean "factored it into your argument"? Uh, you apparently have a VERY mistaken view of the balance of power in the intern vs been there a lot fricking longer than you and in charge positions.

Yes, I realize many young fricks think the day after they arrive they deserve to be given as much credence as the people who actually have proven themselves.............but hey, you probably hoped to ride unicorns to work one day too. Oh well.

She is now an expert on the differences between real life in a business setting and discussing opposing points of view at the bar.

This is right up there with a former fellow intern of mine having 3 weeks in a row where he had a "doctors appointment" on Friday morning so he couldn't come in to work till after lunch.

The bitch fit he threw when he got fired was worthy of a 12 year old girl.

And I've said this about college administrators for awhile, but aren't the adults failing some function of educating the next generation if we're allowing these little snowflakes to proliferate?
