SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket exploded midair just minutes after it launched on its way to the International Space Station.

Is this going to be a lost cause?

Crazy video, slowly burns up and then vaporizes

Just reading about that. Space Station needs supplies badly.

This is the second failed station shipment. In April, a Russian cargo ship spun out of control and came down. And last October, another company's supply ship was destroyed in a launch accident.

If they cant get them to space, i wonder if they would ever really be able to land one like they want to.

Automotive journalists treated Tesla Motors like it was vaporware for years and lumped them in with other failed projects like Fisker. Now? Tesla has their shite figured out and objectively makes one of the best cars money can buy. Rockets, space, and all that is a whole new ball game but I trust evil genius Elon Musk to figure it out. How many failed rocket launches has NASA had, with an exponentially larger budget? Lots.

Yes, and by the time he does he will have a:

exponentially larger budget
I like how people that don't know a damn thing about NASA think their budget was wasteful. (not necessarily you GMM)
Human rated rockets are a whole 'nother ballgame as well.

Well their stock isn't going to do anything seeing as SpaceX is a private company.

Max-Q is the name of the all-astronaut band.

You can't deny that it is starting to look bad for him/spaceX with all of these failures.

I heard the same thing on the news...I am betting that someone is frantically working to bring one of the old space shuttles out of retirement...
Posted on 6/28/15 at 11:29 am to GaryMyMan
..with the exceptions of Challenger and Columbia, the shuttle program was very successful.
To completely shut it down without a viable, working alternative, was an idiotic mistake.
