Space Academy in NOLA?

Nola.com has an article up that says Louisiana will apply to have the US Soace Academy.
The state should offer the LSU New Orleans campus.
It would be a perfect fit. Has all the facilities needed. Has the size. Louisiana could be fine with one less university. It’s in a relatively safe area and it’s a short drive to Michoud.

Seriously doubt it happens. shite, probably Lafayette or something would have a better chance given the SpaceX proximity.
LSUNO would have been probably perfect if it had not been folded in the LSU group and continued failing.

Would think Nola would be a long shot compared to Colorado springs, Huntsville, and Houston. Since they plan to use existing institutions.

Its just never going to happen. Its more likely that NOEast just ceases to exist than gets gentrified to any degree

I honestly don’t think LSU is going to be able to save it. Online learning has made schools like that basically useless. And SLU and Nicholls fill the gap for kids who want to go away to school but stay close to NOLA.

I don't live too far from UNO, so this would be great for me. I am sure it would cause a pretty big increase in non-ghetto restaurants, etc in the area

But Trump seems to like the state, Landry is his buddy, and we have the house majority leader and speaker.

Have been gone from KSC for almost a qtr century. It's changed a lot since then. There were still lots of orange groves on north Merritt Island and KSC proper. Guessing they've already been cleared out.
300 acres? Hmmm. Even though KSC is on a wildlife refuge, I bet they could make it happen.
As for New Orleans, this seems like a square peg in a round hole. Why not put it at Stennis. Lots of real estate there.
