Most people can buy a house in the sticks dude

You haven't made "it" by doing so

If anything. You're just a cog in the system of retards who think that's a quality way to live

This place is more bitch boy than that article. I recall when a 17 year old was stalked and then proceeded to whip the arse of a bitch boy named Zimmerman, this place completely supported the bitch boy.

It doesn't sound like this job is that great considering you can't even buy a house.

I own a $300k house that I can easily afford with just my income.

It just happens to be in the ghetto. It is also a 5 minute commute to my office.

I'm not complaining. I'm just saying that buying a 1,200 sq ft fixer upper in a good area as that poster suggested is not possible where we live. My "millennial" friends in our 30's would LOVE to do that.

Seriously? Who the frick wrote this shite. Millennials need to stop being pussies, get a job, work hard and save to buy a house.

So at age 25, in your first job, you think you should have "made it" and be living amongst the wealthiest in your city? Jesus this generation has some unrealistic expectations.

No I'm fine with renting like I said two pages ago

Buying where I want to live (a city with social life) would be dumb in 2019

Not dumb, just something you can't afford.

1. Hunting should be replaced by cooking
2. Fighting should be replaced by meditation
3. Repairing your car should be replaced by coding
4. Fixing things at home should be replaced by decorating
5. Being a leader should be replaced by collaborating
6. Being a disciplinarian (parent) should be replaced by communicating w your kids
7. Holding your emotions in should be replaced by talking about your feelings

I don't think people "think they should be". They just know they can't and thus choose to rent and enjoy the urban life with everything close by instead of buying a home far away from everything.

I wanted to own AND live close to the city so I bought in a shitty area (which has massively appreciated thank god). That was my sacrifice to develop equity so when the kids are older we can live in a great neighborhood in a forever home.

Even if I could afford to do so

Buying a 600-$750k home in a city does not seem like a wise investment today.

It would be a good investment, you just can't afford it.

And I'm right there with you, as are most people my age without family helping them that I know in Nashville.

Really do not understand why you think it would be a wise investment but whatever.

Way to risky in my opinion

I think the author and others who talk about fighting=masculinity give it far more credit than it deserves. It's a strawman.

I haven't read through all the posts here, so maybe this is covered. But when this limpwrist says "fighting" I think he is referring to being confrontational when the need for it arises.

I think most level headed men will avoid a fight if possible, but being disagreeable and taking a "take no shite" stance when required is a masculine trait. I believe the crux of his argument is that masculine traits are outdated.

Only if people start not wanting to live in that city.

Which of course may certainly happen, but I don't think you'll find a single home owner who bought in the SF Bay area (or most southern California) even 20 years ago who regrets their choice. Same can be said for Seattle, Portland, Nashville, Atlanta, etc.

Obviously but that was 20 years ago

It's just not a risk I'd take on right now even I had the equity.

Then enjoy your choice and quit acting like older generations had it any better. My parents were married at 22 and had their first child at 24. They saved and bought their first house at 28 and it was certainly not in a cool area. You made your lifestyle choices. It's not up to the rest of us to help you to afford your dream life.
