Southwest up to 2900 flights cancelled per flightaware LINK
Delta is at 268 and United 137 so they're not doing fantastic either but they're still getting planes out

It just pisses me off that everybody keeps claiming "weather" while the rest of the airline flights are leaving.

They've started cancelling tomorrow's flights too. My son just lost his Tuesday afternoon flight.

I found a red eye on delta that was reasonable

They're already cancelling Wednesday flights. It's going to be a mess all week. If anyone needs help finding flights on another airline join the travel board thread and post what you're looking for. Tried helping a few already but given it's the holidays most flights are full to begin with

Southwest doesn't have hubs and their system framework for rescheduling flights is extremely manual. When shite hits the fan for SW, it's always going to get REALLY bad. People like to pretend it's not a shitty budget airline, but it is.

Technically they don't have hubs but I'd call places like Denver, Nashville, Ft Lauderdale, Orlando, and Baltimore hubs for them. My biggest beef with them is their 30 minute turns for 738s. Any delay from a morning flight cascades into multi hour delays for evening flights and that happens daily

They took everyone's money upfront. There will be no refunds, just more credits to push forward. If this really goes in the gutter, the 1st and 2nd quarter are where the hits might start showing. Problem is, many will not remember this in 2 weeks and go right back using SWA next year when they travel.

I'm sure a lot of employees weren't showing up because they know just how bad the SW systems and software is too. They don't want to get hung out to dry in random cities either.

And yeah they have rolling hubs but not hubs like Delta and United do that could really help them get out of pickles like this one.

I felt so bad for the random gate agents in Atlanta for southwest that showed up to work today. They had rebooking lines at least 10-25 deep the entire time I was there from noon - 655pm with zero breaks. People saw southwest employees and knew they needed to get rebooked so joined the lines

Incorrect. If a flight cancels, you are eligible for a full refund. If they deny the request, put in a DOT complaint and you will get your money back.
That's good advice for everyone- Don't take the credits, get your refunds!

Buying some long dated put options on these guys. I’d imagine their Q4 numbers take a huge nose dive considering this week is this industry's biggest of the year.
I don’t know, airlines are terrible businesses that are basically government operations in many facets now. Not sure I would ever want a dime of my money tied in with any aspect of their stocks.

Got us. Right as we went to check in at 650 today for our 650 flight tomorrow the app said cancelled. Called 30 times and the help line doesn’t ring. Barely found a rental car that got me for $400 for my 12 hour drive. Hoping the car is there in the am. If not, we’re hosed.

This is why you fly United

NC is a big arse state, but quickly checking to Charlotte it's $350 for a one-way on American, more to Raleigh, or the beaches. Was hoping there was a one-off nonstop on breeze or similar. Car is going to be cheaper especially with more than 1 person
