A Southwest Airlines flight bound for Houston immediately returned to Denver Sunday morning after a removable sheet of metal covering one of the Boeing 737-800’s engines sheared off during takeoff. In a statement, the Federal Aviation Administration said the engine cowling detached and struck one of the plane’s wing flaps. Reached by email, a Southwest spokesperson told The Post the incident was the result of a “mechanical issue.”

I have an upcoming Southwest flight in the next three weeks and my anxiety is at an all time high. This is a maintenance issue that comes from incompetent mechanics that don’t know what the frick they’re doing. “But DEI is our strength!” frick DEI

I usually fly American, but have a Southwest flight to Orlando coming up because they're the only airline with a direct flight. I'm not feeling great about it.

I'll be flying next month. I do not intend to be sober on takeoff.

How do you deal with the pre-flight anxiety? I’m worried that the anxiety is going to be so bad that I’m going to lose my fricking mind inside the terminal while waiting to board. Flight anxiety is the worst.

Why? Up until the incident a few years back with the window shattering from an engine blade, wasn't SW the only US airline not to have a crash or fatality

And American had an issue just a few weeks back on a flight into LAX.

I fly every other week on United or SW... Will be on SW this week and no hesitations in stepping on the plane.

It’s a quick death and your family won’t have to pay for a casket. So there is always an upside.

I’ll Consider myself lucky, flew on 4 Southwest flights last week to Texas and back.
Damn that turbulence, been flying routinely for 25 years and seems to really be more noticeable the past two years. Spring is never a great time to fly anyway.

This will be my first Southwest flight. Haven't heard great things.

American has been pretty good so far. I fly out of Birmingham so unless I'm going north, American and United are my options. I've heard worse things about United than Southwest. Honestly never had anyone tell me they had a good experience with United. Delta wants me to connect in Atlanta before flying west so their flights are always too expensive.

I have no data to back this claim up but I’m willing to bet the delta in airline emergency divergences has not drastically changed much throughout the years. The difference is the high profile scrutiny on Boeing and the public being more aware of these type of issues.

Watch this great Boeing video to put your mind at ease. They only hire the best DEI has to offer.

I’ve flown SW when I fly. I’ve only had one logistics issue two years ago. Other than that, never had a problem.

Matter of fact, this is the route my daughter flies coming home from school. She will be on a flight coming home next month with no hesitation.

At the time of this post, this flight descending and is about to land in Houston. Have a drink and chill out.
