Always one of these nimrods around in these threads
Please explain why because the last several times I had to take off work to sit with my kids nothing happened.

What a few gusts of wind? We aren’t talking about a damn hurricane baw. Down here it’ll be a thunderstorm
Are you 100% sure about that? Is there absolutely zero chance it is more? Are you willing to stake your livelihood on it?
Because that's what the decision makers look at. They aren't going to take the risk.

You think that the rain was the only thing that went into the decision?
I’d love to know what did go into the decision. Because in St Tammany, they do this chicken shite routine every time of canceling after school and work hours. Unless you work at the school, you are going to work tomorrow and they don’t give anyone any time or notice to plan. So lots of kids will be on the road tomorrow anyway while parents scramble to find coverage and rearrange work schedules.
Don’t tell me you are acting in an “abundance of caution” if the families are not considered at all. You think school should be cancelled? Fine, cancel it in enough time that I can plan accordingly. This is at least the third time this school year in which the forecast has not materially changed in maybe a week and they give no notice.

The wind was kicking earlier today and ripped a piece of fascia off of my house earlier.
F aluminum fascia. I wish I had replaced it all with Hardi before I put a new roof on

Maybe you could have been proactive with your planning…after all, this is at least the third time. Seems you would have learned by now.

Concrete drainage ditch behind my house has over run its banks and turned into a river

I work in an industry that has a government imposed deadline coming in the next week. The schedule is full and people are counting on me to not get fined by the government. My wife works in healthcare. We have to leave the house tomorrow, so do the kids.
You know what I did to plan accordingly? Not burn favors until it’s absolutely necessary. I have coverage, but it’s not at my house. The school system and government did not help keep them safe, they simply removed themselves from liability.
What do you suggest we could have done differently?

North central LA here and we just got hit with a monster. Shocked I don’t have trees down. Pine tree tops were damn near sideways. No severe storm or tornado warnings.
We were already saturated from last night and this morning, so no doubt this is going to cause some flooding up here.

Nope. I'm the one tired of the same old shite in these threads every time a school decides to cancel, dipshit.
The school closures will be the most noteworthy outcome of this storm in south Louisiana. It’s a stressful situation, if you are above the fray, stay out of it and let people vent about something pertinent to the storm. But you can’t, and now you are editing posts to save face. Piss off with this “cluttering of the precious thread” nonsense.

Now that school is cancelled that means 100% that the weather will not be bad.

What did I edit? I have no power to delete a post. None.
