But seriously, I don't think Grambling is in any better condition. A few years ago they lost their RN and BSN program.
They also have significantly less programs than SUBR.
Academics is something both schools need to work on, but logistics are more in favor for SUBR to be the primary public HBCU.

his is typical SACS when there are "recommendations." SACS is one tough group, much moreso than the other five regional accrediting bodies.
I went to a fairly highly ranked school and the administration still stressed the F out every seven years that SACS shows up. It is kind of troubling how many college resources had to be spent on the process for a school recognized as one of the best in the region.

It is a bit of a waste. Tgey cone in year seven if there's something wrong.

I worked with a SU grad who was a Chemist. I'm shocked SU was accredited.

But Rallo said based on the brief details made public by SACS, the school was likely flagged for an insufficient number of faculty members.
General problems that they all complained about: nepotism, corruption, being told to pass failing students so that the school can keep up enrollment numbers, a severe lack of other faculty with terminal degrees, decrepit facilities, and chronic funding issues.

This. My theory is that the professors feel it is their duty to advance their brother.

That's basically open admissions

There are FIVE HBCU's in Louisiana. The more populous states of SOuth Carolina and Georgia have one and three respectively There should only be two in Louisiana A privately funded SU and the already private Xavier
This is incorrect, SC has more than one HBCU

XULA is a great school
It's one of the easiest pharmacy schools in the nation to get into.
But yeah sure Xavier is a "great school"

Bigger issue is that Louisiana has 16 state-run 4-year universities and 4.6 million residents.
Florida, by comparison, has 12 state-run 4-years abd over 20 million residents.
Do the math.

Has La combined any colleges recently? I know Ga has combined several tech schools plus made SPTU be absorbed by KSU.

If that happens, why should the state subsidize. Close it
You guys wishing for this are idiots - SJWs will ensure that the students there get accepted to LSU and ULL and Tulane will probably take a bunch as well.

Correct. And there are people who graduated from Southern who feels as if this has devalued their degree.

There was a push to combine Tech and Grambling at least 5 or so years back.
Basically GSU would be a satellite campus. It meant with fierce resistance and failed.
The issue is that politics prevent anyone from targeting HBCU. It's almost political suicide. Dems need the Black Base. GOP are afraid that the blowback could hurt their pet projects.

Honestly I don't understand why southeastern exists or why lsu Eunice exists, especially when Alexandria is nearby.
I'd say nicholls, mcneese, and southeastern, and all lsu satellite campuses excluding medschool and lsus need to be shut down and consolidated. Ulm can consolidate to tech.
We don't need this many 4 year universities.
We are a state that does need those 2 yr/junior college/voc/trade school however.
I do wonder if Baton Rouge should have a Med school and health sciences center?
