listened to reggie flood on the jaguar journal for about 5min the other night. ran to the store and my radio was still on 104.9..... he posed a question about the need for money for the athletic teams and how them and the band needed to work together.
basically all of the callers called him a dumbass and said that they band is the only thing people go to the games for. if there wouldn't be a band there would be no football team. he seemed pissed at all the callers saying that. one guy suggested that the band get to get their 'own" contract when going to other stadiums and they should be the only ones to get the money...

He is correct though. They need to figure it how to make that money work to showcase both the band and their athletic programs to help recruit and fundraise. His callers for the most part are clueless.

Interesting. Reggie is far from a dumbass. He's a good guy.

Fun Fact: Reggie Flood and LuckySo-n-So played pee wee football for the Merrydale Warriors in 1979-80. He was a beast. A man among boys on the football field. I ended up in the marching band.

i agree... sounded like he was trying to get the fanbase on board for bettering both the band and sports. seriously, all they did was hammer him and he took all he could then just got rid of the callers... what gets me is they can at least be competitive in their conference, but the idiot fans only want to see the band apparently....

I was at the game yesterday and was damned impressed by the Southern band. I mean, I knew they were going to be good because their reputation proceeded them, but what blew me away was how loud they were and how crisp they sounded. I was NOT expecting that. Mucho, mucho props. Totally blew away the UGA Redcoat band out of the stadium.

I only wish I could have heard more of their songs before and after halftime, but we were playing so much loud assed rap music between plays it was hard to hear them. The Southern band was MUCH louder than the UGA band during the game and that was with the UGA band having the benefit of their sound being boosted by sideline speakers in three corners of the stadium.
