Models are pretty consistent, or even trending a bit more toward snow. Still an impossible forecast, but I’m a bit more confident I’ll see snow at my house in Alexandria. I’ll update when I wake up. Trying to sleep in because I’m going to be up tomorrow night no matter what. But I’m encouraged that the area north of a Rosepine to Forest Hill to Marksville line will at least see some flakes. Deep breaths. Trying to stay calm.

Both 00z HRRR and NAM look mighty nice for north Louisiana.

Alexandria is right on the line. Wet bulb might get it done there.

Duke,

Check out the 06z HRRR.

Gulf low is being suppressed by the trough. Snow/rain line is creeping ever so slowly south in response over the past few runs. Euro and RAP playing catch-up as well. Don’t think it will make it quite to BR Metro, but we’ve been surprised before

That be a surprise for folks that far south. Surface low finding it's self farther south to start as you said. That positioning could get some of metro Houston (north side obv) into some flakes.

It's still bringing the low north such that BR would stay in the rain.

Too much warm air advection at the low levels. The low would need to be quite a bit more suppressed to the south to make that work for BR. The trend of a slightly southern start would make our posters in central LA happy though.

That tightening temperature gradient is what is going to deliver I think. That'll make some lift in just the right part of the atmosphere to pump out some snow and it's cooling at the night goes on.

Get a nice deformation band through the rain to snow transition. Get in that band, you get splattered with a coating of wet (that 10:1 ratio ain't going to hit) snow that covers everything.

Woke up this morning at 5am and had a notification on my phone from TWC that said “snow will begin at 4:06am and continue heavily for several hours”. It’s just raining here in Lafayette, got my hopes up for a second.

No, the radar algorithm is wrong.

I got 38 in Houma, seeing what I would think is melting snow using my dual-pol radar views. It's just cold rain.
