Does he realize that he is going to rack up roughly 70,000 in debt just to make 68,000 out of school?

ooks like it's the cheapest of all the schools, and he could live in Baton Rouge.
He could go in the evenings too and with a full time job nearly wipe out the opportunity cost completely. That's what I did.

Besides, a law degree just lets you check a box on the bar exam. That's the great equalizer.
What the frick are you talking about? The school you graduate from makes a ton of difference in the job market (not to mention the wildly different bar passage rates).

Friend of mine got a full ride to LSU Law with a 3.0 GPA and a slightly above average LSAT.
If he doesn't have the credentials to even get accepted at LSU then maybe it's not for him.

What race is he?

Availability to do anything he wants. South American dove hunts, Colorado elk hunts, putting his 2 children through the best school, bought the house he wanted on water front, Z71 Denali for he and his wife.
I am in no way interested in the lifestyle he lives, but he is doing very well for himself.

If you are scoring in the low/mid 140s on the LSAT then you may need to rethink law school.
LSAT is fricking cake by entrance exam standards. I firmly believe anyone could get in the low/mid 150s if they practiced enough. It's incredibly learnable.
Tell him to retake in december and take at least one practice test a week from now until the test (preferably two/week). His score will jump 10+ points if he does that and honestly analyzes his weak spots when going over the practice tests.

Ok, but you have to understand that that is family connections not Southern Law School that put him there.

Dozens of Southern grads pass the bar every year. That's dozens of licensed attorneys, on the same level as licensed attorneys from other schools.
For this guy's interests and personality, a law degree from Southern would be perfect. I've practiced alongside Southern grads for years, so I can speak to this personally.
I'm just trying to get insight into their application review process from alumni, and if he should go ahead and apply, or wait. I don't know if Southern does rolling admissions, etc.
Besides, I read the other day that former governor Mike Foster went to Southern

Actually, not at all. He lives in his home town, but his practice is a half hour away from his home town where he actually just applied for an opening there when he got out of law school, got the position, and was given partnership a few years later.
You guys can shite on southern all you want, but I disagree because of my first hand example I've witnessed.

I agree about the job market, but I don't think school attended has that large of an effect on the likelihood of an individual person passing the bar. If anything, from what I can tell some of the less prestigious schools actually put more effort into bar preparation whereas the classes at better schools are more geared to practice of law.

This story doesn't seem on the level to me. I for sure know some balling small town attorneys, but the majority are struggling these days.

Does not compute. With just a little bit of studying, he should be able to do much better than a 143.

Awesome. Lets laugh at the scientist who has no idea how that crooked system works, but has a friend that he's witnessed first hand become very successful via southern law.

Yeah to generalize a lot, your super elite Harvard-tier Law Schools actually don't do much if any practical practice/bar prep type courses, and the upper level courses are much more often extreme liberal political theory "Genderqueer Identity and the Law" type shite. It's ridiculous. But then again if you're smart enough to get into a top 5-10 law school, then bar prep most likely will be easy for you.
