Do not live there. If you have to be here for work at least make the most of it and live within easy distance of good restaurants and schools. That part of town is no man's land. I'd rather live in a shack in Broadmoor than a mansion in Southern Hills.

Agreed. I'm far more interested in neighborhood than square footage. Southern Hills isn't the ghetto, but it's quite vanilla. Get over to Broadmoor or Shreve Island area.

And for God's sake please don't move to north Bossier. Unless you're a droll wanna-be white yuppie you'll be bored out of your skull.

I don't think y'all are giving Break-N-Run the credit it deserves as a landmark establishment in the Southern Hills area.

I live in Clingman Park, a small subdivision between South Highlands and Broadmoor. Think Bayou Pierre where Gilbert turns into Fern Ave. You know the crazy lady that decorates for every holiday on the corner of Fern and Southfield? I pass there daily... we love the area.

Trace or GTFO

Southern Hills is not bad but I would suggest driving around there and spending more time finding a home in that area. Like others have mentioned there are decent parts very close to not so decent. South Highlands and Broadmoor areas will be your best bet for older homes that will hold their value IMO. North Bossier is great as well as far as values if you don't mind the drive into town. I personally wouldn't buy anything in SW Shreveport without getting some land and building.

We home shopped over a year. That area is backed up to South Highlands, but not pier and beam of every house in Broadmoor, A C Steere school district, and got a contract to buy at $83/sq. ft.

The thing about Shreveport is how co mingled the neighborhoods are. On the other side of Querbes by the club house are some shady areas. Same with Spring lake and Cedar Grove, or South Highlands/ Rutherford to Stoner. There are a lot of bad areas right on top of some really great areas.

I live near this area and dont mind it. Fairly quiet, and if it sweetens the deal, we are getting a Super Family Dollar at Youree and Stratmore.

Side note, whats up with that cat doing the Miami style renovation on his house with the fortress wall around it Right next to the side street parallel with Youree...

The general rule for Shreveport is to be east of I49 and south of I20.

Southern Hills has some decent neighborhoods but schools suck there. If you have kids they will have to be in the magnet program or go to private school.

Also, like someone else said, if you decide to sell, you will have longer market time and may not get a fair price.

Check out the University area and Town South. Both are very close to LSUS.

This is the reason I moved south of Flournoy Lucas. We looked at several areas before deciding to get south of town.

She has to have a storage unit. We've discussed that before. I almost want to stop, knock on the door and ask her.
