I’d bet she’s claiming he was assaulting her & the knife stabs were self defense. Police/DA went with a lesser charge till they do a deep dive on the incident.

I'm not a lawyer or in law enforcement but I'm pretty sure I've heard former LEO Woody Overton say in his podcasts that aggravated battery IS attempted murder in Louisiana. Louisiana doesn't even have a formal "attempted murder" charge. Also, in most states battery is what leads up to assault, which is physical. In Louisiana it's just the opposite because of Napoleonic code.

Honestly, it's probably just cutting out the middle man. Because if they did, she would scream rape, sexual assualt, etc. True or not...status quo for this day and age would be to believe her 100%.
