is a similar storm to the one in Georgia. Generally, it takes a lot to get a really strong tornado out of those. The GA storm has been a huge overachiever in that regard.

Figured the one in SE Al being that far south had a lot more warm instable air to get going plus it’s a discreet cell.

Weird how this stuff works, you just never really fully know what causes these storms to underperform or overperform.

It is still a tornado and will mess stuff up. The difference between the too is that the GA one has really been able to maximize everything.

A viewer-submitted photo shows significant damage to an Alabama state trooper vehicle. No word on any injures yet.

Prayers going up. I have an old friend that works that area. Waiting to hear something.

ETA Hearing minor injuries to the trooper thankfully

crazy weather.

Got absolutely nothing before or after the front, just some wind and dark clouds...everything bad went north toward Wiggins or south along/below i10.

Prayers for all those effected by the tornadoes though. After going through the Arabi one at my parents a couple weeks after moving down, I know that shite sucks

Griffin is where I'm at. The storm hit about 2.5 miles from my place. We are all okay but the tornado hit the major shopping center in town. I'll keep everyone updated.

The Walmart and Hobby Lobby area in what they call Experiment just N of Griffin is what WSB reported has significant damage and people trapped in homes.

Yeah Experiment is just an extension of the city limits. Old mill community just north of the city proper.

Insane damage pic in Cobb County of a brick auto parts warehouse ripped apart, bricks and cinder blocks everywhere, and there was never even a tornado warning there. WSB live broadcast. Wish I had a pic. Insane.

I assume he was as the injury was said to be "a bump on his head"

I know pine trees live to fall over, and that pine bark beetles have killed millions of them. In the picture of the trooper's car, the smaller ones look to have been dead from beetles already or they might have had the flexibility to stay sort of upright. That's one lucky trooper.

I have been in so many bad storms and tornados, I can pretty much feel when it's going to be bad, or not much, where I am.
Two miles away from me, different hills, different sunshine and different ground heating situation, it may go differently.
When I start feeling sudden quick changes in the temperature, back and forth, that's when I get worried.

Pretty sure he wasn't in that car. Unless he's still in it.
