Legend, hope all is well and health abides within you and yours.
What are we looking at for North Alabama?
You have no idea how much you and the OT’s weather opinions mean to me.
Travis and Spann probably have more toys at their dispense, but I trust my gut.
Again, thanks to you all.

Flood watch starts at noon. Blame them.

That's the stupidity of it all--the latest HRRR doesn't even have a half inch of rain over the majority of SELA at that point.

Acadiana has more of a risk by that point, and only 3 parishes have announced an early dismissal.

I guess we're either tougher or dumber than SELA...

Windy. Maybe too windy to fly a kite. As far as storms, we are pretty far removed from this one. Mainly some pretty good rain ahead of the front, and I wouldn't be surprised to maybe see a severe warning or two when the line moves through. The best parameters are pretty well contained to the coastal areas.

This is NWS Mobile’s forecast discussion from this afternoon regarding the severe weather threat. It is quite ominous and notes that this could be a significant severe weather event.

Not a whole lot of my thinking has changed since my earlier posts in this thread for all of Southern LA. Pinpointing BR or any other town/city won't do much good right now. The threat is the same for all of them until we see how things shake out tomorrow afternoon.

Had a snowbird tell me he heard on the news that storm chasers were in route for the level 3 risk.

Told him if it isn't a Cat 2, we don't even get worried down here.

That’s not good at all for the I-10 corridor.

Given how that reads I’m a little surprised the threat level isn’t higher.

The coast is supposed to be spared from serious tornadoes, since it has to endure hurricane season year after year

Don't forget that we won't have KLIX tomorrow. It is still being relocated.

Why are all of these SELA schools/districts canceling school when the worst weather isn't even supposed to through there until tomorrow night?

Took this from another board
quote:

I’m a school administrator, closing school really doesn’t have anything to do with danger from weather. It has to do with students being stranded at school because of flooding, lack of power etc. which can lead to a lack of food, water etc. and having a 30:1 or more adult to student ratio and doing the supervision of that without resources. Try dealing with hungry kids at 5:00 p.m. and then later into the evening. The nervous parents trying to get to their kids in flood waters leads to dangers for the emergency people. These lessons were learned years ago with many of the floods that used to catch us off guard. Add to that an after school situation where even less adults might be on campus with kids and it gets real sketchy quick. I personally was caught in that scenario once and while I was fine it wasn’t good for the kids at all. Also, you have staff that may have their own kids, sick family members etc. The school thing is just a completely different animal. My frustration is that what I just explained is rarely communicated.

just sounds lazy imo

BR has been in the 2 out of 5 "Slight" Risk since late last week; but that changed to a "3 Enhanced Risk"; that's the difference between being "vigilant" and in "Alert Mode".

Yep. Schools close for everything these. Tornado warning? Into the hallway like the old days.
