There’s some weak rotation west of Birmingham. NWS B’ham is watching it but they’re not going to issue a tornado warning for it at this point.

It’s picking up now, but nothing too terrible from what I can tell.

There are some reports of trees down in my area, but everything is good at my location. Mostly just heavy rain from what I could tell.

I already bitched on the Travel Board, but wow it was nasty at MSY. Landed from Orlando around 9:50pm and had an hour delay from our original flight plans this evening. Coming in to land I wasn't sure if it was by design, but we definitely circled one time before reaching the airport. Came in to land and we had some pretty gnarly winds rocking us around. Thunder around MSY held up the grounds crews from being able to offload any planes and even kept another plane in the air for at least 45 more minutes before landing. Mrs. BTB waited in the car and then I heard a plane take off, so i had guessed our bags would start moving soon. About a 90minute wait overall from landing to finally driving home. I've been fortunate enough to rarely have been delayed in my travels because of weather, but this sucked.

I’m seeing some reports that a tornado maybe have hit Athens, AL (north Alabama). There are pictures of some pretty significant damage. Legend, do you have any info?

More from Athens with a radar shot. It goes to show how quick these type tornadoes can form. It formed, did damage, and dissipated all between radar sweeps. It was between scans of KHTX, but one of the local affiliate radars caught it.

Nothing bad here. Some wind. Haven't seen if any trees down in the area.
Never lost power. Somewhat odd, since I live in the sticks.
Bunch of rain ,and of course the basement has a trickle of water that some towels are absorbing.

Damn. I used to cruise the square in Athens 50 years ago. Really makes you think how fragile life is.
