Fair enough.

Just curious what the rest of the state would do without the red area.
If you know you know.

Cut the red section off and you’re Mississippi.

Both SELA and SWLA agree that life is better south of I10/I12.

Holy shat!….South La folks never tire of saying this . Why?! It’s annoying as hellllllll. But I’m pretty sure all of us North La folks would love to be annexed by Texas or Arky at this point.
One thing is for damn sure, that South La mentality is ruining this state.

I'd be fine if we gave to Florida parishes back to Florida

I went to a birthday party for a 1 year old once with my wife. It was that moment at around 10:30 am that I realized these people are on a whole other level.

I’d be happy if DeSantis was our governor instead of that rat troll we have now.

They most definitely have a higher percentage, but I doubt very seriously they have more total.

Be the rest of the state?

I mean, Lake Charles Frickin Louisiana has one of the Top 10 or 15 largest ports by tonnage in the entire country.

Imagine what the rest of the state could do with the $90 million JBE (a SELA product) wants to put into the Superdome.

I've always found this to be one of the single goofiest arguments had in LA. Everything is subjective, and no one is unbiased.

This is why the SW will never surrender D.I.'s in Basile.

Places to raise your kids, that aren’t super rural or crime ridden areas

Most of the tax payers and less of the welfare recipients.

My Haynesville Shale gas well provides pretty well to my family and revenue for the rest of the state. The lake I live on is the cleanest in the state and provides tons of recreation for the area. And we have a really great place to raise our kids.

If you guys had to ballpark it, what would the total population be of the North and Central sections?

You mean we'd get to have a governor with balls and much better policies/economy/opportunities?
As a West Floridian, Id support that move as well.

Based on estimates of the metro populations of New Orleans (including the Northshore), Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Lake Charles, and Houma, that leaves roughly 1 million residents in the rest of the state.

Both are better than CENLA, though. That's No Man's Land...as in "No Man actually wants to live on that Land".

Definitely stay away, you might have to cut a tree or get your Prius stuck. CenLa is some of the best land in LA.

ETA: "Based on estimates of the metro populations of New Orleans (including the Northshore), Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Lake Charles, and Houma, that leaves roughly 1 million residents in the rest of the state."

One CenLa or NorthLa baw is worth 10 city slicks, at a minimum, from down south. (LC and Laffy aren't that bad), but lets get real here.

You're telling me Opelousas, Eunice, Ville Platte, and Mamou aren't Louisiana?
