HS soccer is more violent than I remember or imagined. My nephew played for Menard last year and damn those games were intense. 5-6 really good kids on the field with a ton of wild-arse athletes. We watched a tournament on Hwy 28 by the old airbase in Alex and the field next to us had a sidelines clearing brawl with full on mayhem. It was pretty awesome.

I never did like HS ball, travel ball was always much more fun, this is where you truly develop and you play against better players, well depending on the division you played in
I find parents much worse in HS games for sure

I kicked my 4 HS years, and started at CM for the 03 and 04 state title teams. I wish I still lived in BSL, I would definitely help your son out. My dad is AD/AP at PRC, and I go help their kickers when I get a chance..
ETA: Also, started at CB for my JFC team. We traveled all over the country, Dallas Cup, Sun Bowl, Blue Chip Showcase in Cincy, all of the regional tournaments. I miss those days, had a lot of fun...

Out clubbin NC makes this a big push at all ages. For the most part, it works.

I saw a brawl pitting players against players and parents against parents at a girls soccer President's Cup final this year. I don't think such a rule would restrain those types of parents. Anyone care to guess the Louisiana clubs involved?

La Fire Jrs was not involved. Actually, on a whole, their parents are usually well behaved.

Nice. He loves going out to kick...he'll he'd love soccer more if it was all set plays.
Short kick video of him when he was 10, 6 months ago.
YouTube.
Just cool being out there...him dreaming of the lights on a Friday night.

We love playing the Fire teams. Their best teams in each age group, 07 and 06, are good.

Nice. Looking good so far. Except that his left foot should be in front before his approach. Lol, but really I hope he gets somewhere with it. Keep up the hard work..

I try to tell him NOTHING. Just kick. That way when someone does work with him he'll be a blank slate. He can thump it for no real approach. I have him off a 1" tee.
I just shag balls and tell him nice kick when he drives it well.
ETA: I get on his arse when he doesn't hit a tennis ball right or catch a football with his hands...or better yet when he doesn't put a set play on goal with some movement. Kicking though, I think there's immediate feedback by the sound and trajectory.

As we play better tournaments the parents get better as well.
I got back into Reffing when I moved to TN, and after a while I told the local scheduler that I refused to work 14 and under games and Jr High games, the parents were the worst. (And not worth the money)
I enjoyed doing the 16-17-18 top level premier teams, parents weren't nearly as bad and coaches were a lot easier to handle, than backwoods redneck ones. Was just getting started with my College certification before moving for work.
High school parents never bothered me since they were further away in bleachers and easier to drown out.

Dallas has a lot of really good premier teams, some of the best talent in the country that I played with and against, but boy are some of them salty frickers
I can understand being passionate but some really don't have self control and take it too far.
I always thought the HS ones were worse, most seemed to be uneducated about soccer more so than competitive ball.

I only yell at my own son. I'm probably too hard on him, but oh well. Someone has to be the best player on the field...may as well be him.
When your son is dancing on the bar at Oz in 10-15 years, at least you'll know why.

I'm not sure about girly, but wwe and MMA are often pretty gay looking. Unless you consider oiled up guys in Speedos, rolling around in the ground together, to be manly.

I coached my first (and one of my last) tournament baseball games a couple of weeks ago...6 yr old. Opposing coach came on the field and argued with the ump 5 different times during a six inning game. Crap is ridiculous.
