Horrible way to die. I wonder what his sister looks like now? Evil dude for sure.
quote:

Former Perth schoolboy Henri van Breda has been handed three life sentences for the grisly murders of his parents and brother in South Africa. Van Breda, 23, showed no emotion as the sentences were handed down by Judge Siraj Desai in the Western Cape High Court today.
quote:

He was also given a 15-year sentence for the attempted murder of his sister and an additional 12 months for obstruction of justice.
quote:

Van Breda was last month convicted of killing his father Martin, 54, mother Teresa, 55, and siblings Rudi, 22, with an axe at their luxury estate in Stellenbosch in 2015.
quote:

His sister Marli suffered catastrophic head injuries but survived the attack. She now suffers from retrograde amnesia and has no recollection of the ordeal.
quote:

During a high-profile trial that gripped South Africa, the court heard van Breda smoked three cigarettes while waiting for his sister to die and did not contact emergency services for more than two hours after the attack.

I think "suffers" might be the wrong word choice here.

sadly, this is likely to be the only news story from South Africa to be picked up by the slanted national media

Prison may be the safest place for a white guy in South Africa right now.

I listened to a Podacast called Sword and Scale about this case. You can hear the 911 calls and court interviews with him. It is about an hour long and it leaves off waiting to hear how the trial goes. It is a pretty crazy story and the story he gives on the murders makes all this even more evil.

Probably won't be burying the hatchet with her brother either.

Was he all calm and creepy telling the story about savagely chopping up his family with an ax in a nonchalant manner?

If so, I'm gonna have to check that out. I am fascinated by pure evil.

Ever listen/watch the BTK killer, Dennis Rader, recollect his murders in the court room? Purest evil imaginable.

Apparently her hair covers it up. She has no memory of the attack, which I guess is a blessing.

I agree, it had to be horrible. Have to imagine that would be one of the worst ways to die. I'm glad she has no memory of it.
