Looking at his Facebook page he is into black metal. Could be some occult motivation. One of his Facebook friends is one of the guys from Norway who was in the documentary “Until the light Takes Us” which was about Norwegian black metal and some church burnings/murder by black metal artists in that country about 20 years ago. Could be a copycat crime.

I agree completely, but let’s be realistic about the parenting this kid probably received. If the boy was black burning white churches and his dad was a deputy you know as well as I do what the responses on here would be like.

I'm not familiar with all of the churches around St. Landry Parish, but I know a lot of the catholic churches around Opelousas/Port Barre are largely brick. Most of those have predominately white congregations. But the majority of churches around here are black congregations.
I live not far from one of the churches that burned (it was actually a polling location as well), and that little building was almost entirely wood.
