Y'all seriously think that being Bubby Brister's kid is some kind of get-out-of-jail-free card? In 2024?
Seriously, get outside more. This is the deal the attorneys, each knowing exactly what the evidence looked like, agreed upon. The NFL thing is at most a footnote.

It's b/c McLindon is an awesome defense attorney and Brister knew exactly what to do in that situation.
Felony Hit-and-Run is not nearly as bad as DWI with vehicular homicide.
That needs to change.

Bubby is from Louisiana and played football at Tulane...that's all you need to know
Did he transfer or something? I thought he graduated from Neville and then played QB at ULM(NLU) or am I thinking of someone else?

Very least they could've given him 2,3,4,5 years whatever suspended just in case he decides to skate on the community service.

I don’t think you’ve been affected by a drunk driver. Had to bury a good friend of mine who was killed by an POS drunk driver. Anyone that drinks and drives and kills somebody should be in prison. Idgaf what the circumstances are. When you drink and drive you know what you’re doing.

1000% .
People usually dont know or care til it hits them close…. I’ve been affected more than once, and it’s criminal to me, how lightly drinking & driving is taken , especially in Louisiana …. I am a fairly tolerant, moderate guy- the one exception to that, where i am extremely hardline- is that i think it should be 100% illegal to drink and drive, at all.. especially now that we are practically in 2025 and there are relatively inexpensive options like Uber (cheap in comparison to a DUI, or in comparison to wiping out a family on the road).. or riding with someone who’s sober.. or walking to the bar, or drinking at home, or or….
We should think of drinking (even one sip of beer) as being something that simply doesn’t mix with getting behind the wheel of a 2,000 lb weapon, ever, full stop…. I dont trust myself if i say im going to “only have one or two” drinks, then i wind up having four or five drinks and then drive home.. why would i trust other people’s dumb asses to be any more disciplined about that ?

How ignorant do you have to be to believe that having a lot of money didn’t help his defense in this case?

Civil case mitigation has long been finalized.

OP didn't say anything about money. I didn't say anything about money. Are we just supposed to assume that Bubby Brister, a journeyman NFL QB for a few years during the "Plan B" era, is flush with cash?
To your point, I never said that the guy with a public defender and the guy with a criminal defense attorney could expect equal results. They can't, and that's good. Money is (roughly at least) the universe's reward for being worth a damn.
I will say, you need more than just cash. You need to know who the right lawyer is. People pay market rates to so-called criminal defense attorneys who leap straight to the "I can get you probation for this" thing. That is not the lawyer you want.
