Something called "Charlotte Russe" is going out of business

LINK
Apparently it's a teen / young adult female clothing store in the malls that closed 90-something stores earlier this year and is now throwing in the towel on the remaining 400 plus stores in the chain.
Never heard of it, but let's use our "is our brand about to die" checklist.
1) Mainly in malls? Check.
2) Bought out by a private equity firm? Check.
3) Online experience? No idea.
4) Store experience? No idea.
5) Non-mall competitors? Wiki tells me their competitors are H&M and Forever 21, both of which I have heard of. So, check.
I guess if any of you have gals in the teens or early 20s, there are deals to be had.

Pretty much like Forever 21. 15ish years ago when I was in HS that was one of the main places the HS girls shopped at.

so you know nothing about the company but want to discuss it closing?

I was actually pretty surprised when I first heard about this.
That said, Charlotte Russe stores are typically much smaller than F21 or H&M. They were still selling a good bit of "club" attire, which isn't really what younger girls are into anymore.

My wife shopped there a lot when we first got married. Cheap, good clothes, but basically a smaller version of Forever 21

this usually seems to be a death sentence.

Girls still dress up to go to clubs

You obviously don’t know anything about this company.

It's a large chain bankruptcy, so it's newsworthy.

The club outfits from yesteryear aren't in anymore.
And the age demo they target has been dressing more in what you see at H&M.
I should know.. I still liked Charlotte Russe and nobody I know who is younger than me/college aged does.

5 min of internet research. Anytime the news says a chain of over 400 stores is going tits up, it's worth knowing about.

Clothing retailers are all the malls have left.
If they go, then malls really have nothing left.

Besides the obvious online shopping, boutiques have really taken over for women fashion. It used to be that locally owned boutiques were unaffordable to anyone not well off, but most of them are reasonably priced these days. Their sales are as good as anywhere, too.

Yea...but you throwing out the “I have no clue what this store is about” routine was not needed. You could’ve just discussed it like a normal person.

I see a lot of these speciality women's boutiques - clothes, bras, lingerie, etc, and they never seem busy. And yeah I always heard they were high priced. If that's changing, that's great, it's always good to support a local business.

In BR, places like Moxi, Posh, Blink, Frock Candy, Bella Bella, etc. are big hits with the 21-35 crowd. When they do big sales to clear out the inventory, they'll clear the entire store before lunchtime.
If you tried hard enough, you could probably get stuff at Charlotte Russe that looks boutique, but the stores were generally a complete mess and attracted quite a rough crowd.
I see they liquidation sale starts today and thought about going check it out, but that store at Mall of LA during a going out of business sale? Knowing the people I usually see in there? Nah..

Retailers are shutting down all over, and it's terrible. You have all this vacant space all over hell that will sit empty, permanently. Lazy fricks shopping online for everything these days!

My ex-wife loved that place. She was way too old for the clothes there, but she wore them just the same.

My little brother got a job there in the 90's to pick up chicks.

They trim their seams in the inside of their jeans to make it more comfortable for women to go commando.
