This is a good representation of where our healthcare system falls down. It's expensive and we're not getting our money's worth.

Yeh I am not elite. I am very middle class with a very good health care plan. I have NEVER been elite and outside horrific military healthcare, I have had wonderful care.

are they coming here to receive better or worse healthcare than they would receive in their own country?

Best healthcare here, but not the best healthcare system.

Sprained my ankle, probably need medical care. I'd have to zero my HSA cash balance for an MRI. And I'd probably have to go to 2+ doctors before that even gets approved. Hell, I'd probably 0 my cash balance by going to my PCP and then giving me a brace and some ibuprofen.

I'm glad you're happy, but every system has satisfied customers. The "best healthcare system in the world" has to be measured in the aggregate, right?

how many hours per week does the avg american work vs those other countries?

how many of those countries have as much "diversity" among their population as we do?

which ones have as poor of diets as we have? or are obese as we are?

What’s elite? I think like bill gates and his man boobs. Not anyone that posts on this site.

Also places like Australia may say, oh your child can’t be saved no need to waste resources.
They did that during Covid.

As far as wait times, the US system seems to do significantly better than almost all other countries in regards to specialists.

No arguments. Our social determinants of health are shitty. Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying our system is bad. It's just not the best system. It's excessively expensive and has massive disparities.

as someone that has actually lived in Europe, I can attest that the wait times in the US are far far far less than what you experience in Europe.

somewhere between 15 and 20 different countries between Central America, Canada, and Europe.

And that statement of mine is based on statistical measurements, not whether I walked the streets of Paris.

People actually measure those things.

Or you can buy a brace and stop being a pussy since you already knew that’s what you were going to be told.

Based on actual data, not whether I walked around Kabul, anywhere from 60-70% of patients will see a specialist within 4 weeks in the USA.

I think it puts us at 2nd place between most western countries.

Canada is less than 40%.

They did.

Didn’t something happen in the UK once with them not letting a kid go seek treatment in Italy or vice versa? I can’t remember the details of that one.

Well we are charged more for medications than a lot of places.

Just look at the vaccines.

But I always hear liberal when it comes to helping other countries, well we are wealthier. Well that’s why our healthcare costs more.

There was.

I actually agree that the outcome was inevitable, but British courts wouldn’t let the US government fly the patient here at no expense to the UK.

But what does it tell you that you have to be rich to take advantage of the US medical system? You will not see stories of middle class people flying here. Don't get me wrong, the US probably has the best care and expertise in the world, but the best system? That's debatable.

do you understand that comparing a health care system that cares for 340 million people is going to be different than a country like Sweden that has 10 million mostly like minded people?
