Can someone explain to me, an outsider, why the governor appoints a mayor instead of having an election like it's fricking America?

think of that like a transition mayor-council, until the new city can get an official election. it's temporary (But could frick over StG)

EBR refused and flippantly told them they needed a city before an ISD

That came from the state legislature.

There’s this community made up with level headed intellectuals outside BR called Denham Springs. St. George is essentially Denham Springs.

Shelby County Municipal Schools vote that happened roughly 10 years ago in the Memphis suburbs.

Several years ago Memphis city had a school district (MCS) and Shelby county had a separate school district (SCS). Shelby county School district controlled all the suburbs and unincorporated areas.

Memphis city schools were poorly run, and they owed a large debt so they voted to abolish the school district and be absorbed by Shelby county. Making just one district to control every school in Shelby county

Problem was, since the city of Memphis was by far the largest population base in the county, they had the most representation on the new Shelby county School board, effectively putting the same idiots that screwed up MCS were now running SCS.

This caused all of the suburbs to realize they needed to break away. After a fairly lengthy period of legal battles and votes to create new laws to allow it. All of the suburbs broke away and created their own separate school systems.

So now we have SCS (which is basically the old Memphis City Schools, and a few schools from unincorporated areas) and I believe 5 municipalities that operate their own individual school system

The lasting effect is that the municipalities populations are growing, the schools are great, and SCS schools suck

And that is apparently proof in action of how the problem isn’t the system involved nearly as much as the people pulling the levers.

Kind of similar to what EBRPSS should have learned through the deseg attempts of the last 40 years... mixing the good with the bad doesn’t even out, it tends to just destroy whatever was good and make it bad.

People in South BR were tired of tax dollars funding a grossly failing school system. They tried to form a new school district but were told to form a city first.

So they did that.

Now the rest of BR, the catholic schools, and the people in the thriving neighboring parishes of Ascension and Livingston are mad. So therefore, the new city is racist.

The end.

It is an incorporated City inside East Baton Rouge Parish.
Other cities are Baton Rouge. Baker, Zachary, and Central.
SJW’s will call it a KKK area until they figure out it is a safer area to raise their families then they will move here. There is a reason they do not live in NBR.
