Everyone is sitting here stunned by how quickly we went from "maybe trans people should be able to use a bathroom" to "if you don't mutilate a 4 year olds genitals, you are evil"
I have no doubt anymore as to the lengths these wackjobs will go and how quickly the work.
This will be the next battle and hopefully people will get off their fricking asses. its already begun.

I think that's generally true (truly disturbed pedophiles probably have severe disorder) but I think what we're seeing is a conflation of vice/deconstructionism/non-conformist conduct by a lot of social outcasts that is going to exceed just those people.
For the same reason you have people who probably don't have gender dysphoria but are embracing gender fluidity, claiming "neurodivergence" etc., I won't be surprised if you have people who flirt with pedophilia who aren't in the category you're talking about. It's a line to cross, a way to destroy social norms.
For example, I don't think Dylan Mulvaney is a pedophile in that sense. I think he's deeply disturbed and may have some form of gender dysphoria (maybe not), but the predilection to not only role play as a woman but to role play as a little girl is unhealthy, antisocial behavior from the contingent I'm talking about. I think the gay community has dealt with similar for a long time - being driven underground for a period, got into a similar boat in terms of depravity involving minors despite not necessarily amounting to what we might call pedophilia

Because a lot of these people just hide and strike like predators.
I understand the condemnation of people who act on their impulses, but I can't imagine it's a choice to want to feel that way. For those who understand that children can't consent and therefore don't act, they are probably living a nightmare.

In a vacuum the argument of "we don't want these highly destructive people living quietly in the shadows" would make sense, and I've seen that message/argument elsewhere and always thought it to be technically valid.
But the reality is when the institutions of this country (including the government) endorse and advocate for trans ideology - something that is in many very real ways a death sentence both for the people who adopt it and, increasingly, for those who oppose it - we cannot trust those same institutions to encourage pedophiles to come out into the open to seek help to cure their disorder.

First off, thanks for actually responding.
I think the dismissal of "slippery slope" as a fallacy is often misapplied, as we've seen it happen with certain issues, particularly when it comes to sexual preference, some of which wouldn't have been so openly celebrated even thirty years ago. However, I don't think this is an issue where it would apply.
We have hard data on an adolescence's ability to make long term decisions and, generally, how poor it is. Knowing that, I can't see this being an issue that anyone ever accepts other than allowing people to confidentially disclose it to get some sort of help. I think the issue with gender dysphoria is that line is not as as dire. Allowing trans women to compete in women's sport is not traumatic. It's unfair as frick, for sure, and I think it should be disallowed. But when we're talking about relations with a minor in this manner I think that line is moreso drawn in stone than sand.

I mean, consider for a moment that a person infected with trans ideology and convinced of the existence of"trans genocide" slaughtered children at school and the President of the United States went on TV the very next day to repeat the lie that led to the murders. Then major corporations doubled down on promotion of the mental illness contributing to the terrorist attack in the following weeks.
