Cab B is more
5x + 20 = 4x + 50
solve for x, plug back into original two equations
5x + 20 = 4x + 50

Cab A charges more if the mileage is 31 or greater
If trip is equal distance (which is implied) then then neither is more expensive. They are equal

Using .10 cents as the variable:
$5(.10)+20= 20.5
$4(.10)+50= 50.4
B baw
$5(.10)+20= 20.5
$4(.10)+50= 50.4

equation 2 will be more until x=30
They are both 170 at x=30
then equation 1 is more than equation 2 when x>30
They are both 170 at x=30
then equation 1 is more than equation 2 when x>30

Cab A is cheaper in distances less than 30 (units...miles I assume)
Once beyond 30 miles, Cab B is cheaper
Once beyond 30 miles, Cab B is cheaper

5x + 20 = 4x + 50
X = 30
If the airport is less than 30 miles from the mall, then Cab A is a better deal. If the airport is more than 30 miles from the mall, Cab B is a better deal. If it is exactly 30 miles, they will cost the same amount.
X = 30

If X < 30 then 1st cab is cheaper if X > 30 2nd cab is cheaper if X = 30 both cost the same

GREAT post, El Jefe!!! Do another one!
You're awesome!!!

I would need to know what it equals in order to solve the problem.
Posted on 8/13/19 at 3:01 pm to Chicken
5x + 20 = 4x + 50
5x - 4x = 50 - 20
x = 30
A: 5(30) + 20 = 170
B: 4(30) + 50 = 170
They're the same baw. That's expensive as frick for a cab. Take an Uber.
5x - 4x = 50 - 20
x = 30
A: 5(30) + 20 = 170
B: 4(30) + 50 = 170
They're the same baw. That's expensive as frick for a cab. Take an Uber.

And of course it's expensive as frick, what kind of cab charges $50 flat before moving??
