I most remember SGT Airborne Outlaw, one of the Black Hats at Jump School.
My basic training Drill Sergeants were very good, but not as memorable as SGT Airborne Outlaw.

The one that ripped my t-shirt off my body for having it on backwards during a surprise inspection. I ripped the remaining thread that held it together. I wanted to punch that motherfricker so bad but restrained
Eta: Company commander BTC Anderson was his name.

I remember most of mine ('97,Ft. Knox, 19D.) One of them was damn funny. He was a Connecticut Yankee who called everyone Dick. He loved to catch privates laughing at the crazy shite that came out of his mouth so he could smoke them like a Virginia ham.
I later saw another one of my DI's who I thought was a joyless jerk on a deployment. He couldn't have been a cooler guy IRL.

Don't remember DIs names but I can picture them at Sand Hill Ft. Benning '89. I remember my airborne and camp Darby RIs though. I no kid you one was named Sgt. Slaughter. Poster child for Army, chiseled, square jawed killer. We had high school and some college cross country runners and swimmers that couldn't touch him

Sergeant Garcia. He'd kick my arse Mon. thru Fri. and some Saturdays. After all that I'd have to put his drunk arse in bed Sat. night.

Drill Sarnt Richardson... that motherfricker was out of his mind.
I don't give a shite what your rank is.. no matter where you are... you see a round-brown walking towards you, you get a little clammy... fact.

No experience from there but I have some Army advice.
Your time in uniform is very special, so, do your very best at all times and take each day very seriously -- even off days. One day you'll be out of uniform, and, you'll want to be proud of the fact that you did your absolute best.

DS Bufkin. 2nd day of basic, he says "as long as you live, you ain't never gonna forget my frickin' name or my goddam face".
He was right. Dude was very close to sanity line.

Good advice.
I remember DS Gaylor from my time in basic at Fort Knox. He was a hard arse. I also remember DS Graves. He was a PT machine. He could smoke everyone in the company in the two mile run.

Drill Sgt. "Hurricane" Holmes. I still hear his voice in my nightmares

Drill Sgts.Hayes and Williams. Both were on their last tour and had seen it all. Except when my mom sent me a picture of a cat hanging on a post and below it said, "hang in there. It'll be over soon" first they laughed, then I paid. Knox 03' 19K Bravo 2-81.

My grandma sent me some pecan candy while I was in basic. I made sure to tell her send enough for all 64 or so guys in my platoon. With both of my Army basic Drill Sergeants being from the NO metro, they loved it. I don't even remember them smoking us after we ate it.
