We went up to Sulphur Springs from Houston area and we were amazed by how empty it was with no traffic. It was well worth the trip and glad the family got to experience it.

We drove from Texas to central Arkansas today and had zero traffic. The little towns weren’t even busy. We found an old abandoned gravel parking lot and watched it with only two other cars in the big parking lot.

By some miracle, Dallas was spared from cloud cover during the entire event - I prayed for that.

I was skeptical of folks that traveled to my city for this event, even going so far as calling them nerds.

I totality get it now. I hope everyone has the chance to see it once in their lifetime.

Saw it in Illinois, just a stunning experience. Second time, didn't know what to expect in 2017 but as soon as I saw it I knew I had to do that again.

You can see the pink streamers at the bottom. Those were amazing, that one at the bottom was so bright. When the moon started to pull away at the end the entire right side of the moon light up with them in neon pink.

We were just south of there near Yantis on Lake Fork. Went in to Sulphur Springs sunday. Nice little quaint downtown. Spent a few hours shopping and eating with the wives. Very surprised by the lack of people. Eclipse was spectacular.

The coolest / most captivating part of it for me was the moment of totality when it went dark in the middle of the day.

We can explain it scientifically all we want but when you experience it...it feels divine in nature.

Same thing can be said for the moment the light switch was flipped back on...

I'll never think of the sun and the moon the same again after seeing that.

More like a major renovation of the pool/spa/villas/restaurant at the Ritz-Carlton Dallas, but that's exactly what I was shooting for in the comments

Some amazing flares that changed over the 4 minutes of totality. One formed an arch. Got some decent photos of them but no access to those right now. 360 degree "sunrise" pretty cool too. Temperatures fell, crickets chirping. Just the whole deal is unreal.

Alex Spahn had a good post earlier about that.

"What's that pink stuff?" You're seeing the Sun's chromosphere. The large structure at the bottom is called a prominence - a loop of plasma jotting out from the solar surface, shaped by the Sun's magnetic field. They're so large, you could fit an entire Earth or two within them!

Kind of cool using Earth to show the scale.

Happens all the time when it's overcast outside.

I got a video of the totality as it happened. I'll post the link soon.

Had the same feeling while driving home. I thought “I feel differently about the sun now.” Can’t really explain it. Felt more connected to it in a way.
