I had a similar thought the other day. It wasn't as extreme as yours, but in my adult life I always thought that if America as we know it ever comes to an end it will be a long time from now.. As in many generations from now.. But there was something I was reading and was thinking about I questioned to myself "Is America as we know it closer to the end?".
My theory has to do with the fact that there is more division within the country than they might have ever been. It seems like just up until several years ago. People could be friends and have different political views. From time to time they might get into an argument, everyone around them would laugh and after it was over that was the end of it.. Today people can't have different views and have a reasonable conversation. Its "you either agree with me or we can't have a discussion".
I remember going into the barber shop and there was always old men arguing about politics everyone else would listen and laugh because of how worked up they would get over it.. But if they were talking something else, they were best of friends.
Now, you either share the same view or you just don't get involved in the discussion. People talk about how much they hate the other side.
Unless people start to realize that the political climate was is created by the politicians because it gives them power when there are more people who will blindly support their side, this shite will end sooner than later.. Divide and concur..

They wouldn't make it here in Florida.
Went to St. Augustine Sunday. Saw maybe 10 people total wearing mask in and out of the stores on St. George Street. Employees wore them of course, but most people there gave zero fricks.

Society started nose-diving when we stopped punching idiots in the mouth.
Also, when schools started that whole thing where if you get in a fight you are arrested thing. As caveman as this shite might sound to some, I think teenagers should be allowed to fight. All of those emotions going on at that age.. Let them get it out instead of bottling it up until one day they explode.
And bullying teaches kids how to deal with shite. The problem comes when you make people think they are a victim for being bullied. But as adults, we do have a responsibility to make sure the bullying isn't overboard.
