Don't remember Birth of a Nation being a comedy, but OK...

I get it. But it's a problem that's getting bigger every day. I think the outrage culture will die eventually once more progressives get burned and ruined for not being up to date on the latest offensive trends. It's going to get worse before it gets better.

It's not just progressives pushing it though.

Conservatives are now in full on "revenge" mode.

This will continue to go back and forth until we just start ignoring these retards.

Point being that 40-50 years ago was a lot different than 10.

Nope. People are too stupid today to recognize comedy genius or too afraid to admit it in this idiocracy we're currently living.

And this has been going on for a while. Dice Clay went through this in the 80s. Social media just speeds up the process.

Don’t act like they’re powerless. A damn good police officer was just fired in my hometown because a group of liberal pussies from across the country accused him of being a member of a hate group...

So a group of people, who more than likely will NEVER step foot in Louisiana, had enough pull to get someone whom they’ve never met, fired... it’s fricking sad

Might as well just not fight back then, huh?

Until people stand up and fight back as a group against these idiots, they give them all the power to do shite like that.

A lot of the time, I don't even think people are actually offended, they are just spewing crap on social media for attention.

yeah, I think you're right. Their narcissism is driving the contrived "outrage". No different than teenage girls manufacturing drama to get people to pay attention to them. I think ppl (white SJWs in particular) feel compelled to right every wrong in the world so they over compensate on the "outrage" to show everyone they're not racist. There's a scene in 1984 where Winston's (soon to be) girlfriend is the most vociferous participant at a rally, only to find out later that's how she keeps suspicion of her real feeling secret.
quote:

It's likely this will cycle back around and at some point

oh yeah, the "market place" for outrage will become saturated and something will give. Its like hair metal bands and grunge. When ppl like Nelson and Candlebox can get a record deal, the market is ripe for a paradigm shift.

Did I ever say not to fight back? I’m just saying, you’re implying that they’re powerless, when that clearly isn’t the case

Not many people in corporate America are lining up right now to tell these people to STFU and sit down, and you know this. Right now, normal people are going to just have to learn how to eat shite...

something will happen eventually and it will turn the tide on all the PC bullshite, but until then, we have to play by their rules (if you’re a public figure)

Blazing Saddles

yep. So I was dating this Jewish girl for a bit long ago, gorgeous, huge tracts of land, uh-mazing secks, typical JAP SJW. She was all about "her people" and "their culture". So I showed her Blazing Saddles because (1) its funny as hell and (2) it's a fellow Jew's, Mel Brook's, magnum opus. She was legit appalled. I was like, "Why?!? This is the greatest work from the greatest comedian your people have. There's a black guy in the male lead, and another Jew in the supporting role. All the other white ppl are depicted as racist dumbfrick rednecks - whats not to love?!?" She honestly didn't know how to take the movie - she was legit confused as to whether it was OK to laugh. She was concerned that bc I liked the movie, what does that make me? We talked it out and had some pretty good geshlekht that night.

Hollywood politics killed comedy. Plain and simple. There was a time when politics was mixed in and it was funny to everyone. Now it just seems like it is hammered in nonstop whether it works or not. Also, if you don't support the Left Hollywood will shun you and the SJW mob will ruin your career.

The next thing that did comedy in was access to endless amounts of it online. Similar to how Napster and YouTube hit the Music industry. Everyone can be a musician and everyone can be a comedian and everyone can easily get their content out their via social media or Youtube. Supply is far greater than Demand. Now every song feels just like other songs because how many different damn songs can there be? Same as comedians/comedies. When you watch a funny movie it now feels very similar to many others that you have seen.

Slightly disagree.

Conservatives can laugh at themselves. We still do it all the time.

But there is NO BALANCE>

When your comedy, is 100% anti-right, that is not comedy. That is politics.

Take Chapelles last show, he hit both sides. Conservatives found it funny, liberals -- are not allowed to laugh.

So, it is not social media that has killed comedy directly - it has just given the left a voice. It is given those who have accomplished NOTHING a voice.

And as we now know, the left uses their voice - to silence opposition. They threaten force and resistance to silence this opposition.

What is this called again?

oh yeah ----- FASCISM.

gross exaggeration.
if it were a race to an imaginary finish line, liberal/progressives would be lapping conservatives on the race track of making a mountain out of a mole hill over pc/sjw bullshite.
and you know it. blissful ignorance to say otherwise.

now this is true and both sides need to be ignored for it to happen.

I stopped watching the show because they ruined Preacher. They could have just taken the comic page by page as their storyboard. But, for some reason, they decided to get all whacky with it.

It isn't a gross exaggeration. Conservatives are in full on "revenge" mode. That doesn't mean they have caught up to progressives. It means they are entering the race.

Wow, started this thread expecting to get slammed and downvoted into Oblivion, came back hours later to be pleasantly surprised..

Say what you want about the OT and TD as a whole but the people here get it.
