Also, while addressing this, the firing would have happened immediately for me.

10 years prior offenses need to be put to rest , the tweets were out there for almost a decade. I wouldn't get fired from a joke I told in college 15 years ago. There's where the social media part hurts this whole situation

Those tweets were out there when he got hired and made 2 blockbuster movies making them millions.

If anything they should have vetted him better and never hired him in the first place

I am a big fan of Damon Wayans but he even stopped doing stand up comedy because of political correctness. I wish people stop caring about what people think and say what they feel. If people don’t like it frick them.

Another one who missed my entire point.

Keep focused on my issue, comedy is dying because of social media and by missing the point and you keep posting this as your stance you are feeding into the problem.

I'm not defending Gunn, it's about free speech. We can't have asterisks in free speech because it's in "bad taste" or it isn't funny to you or you don't agree with the humor.

It starts to get alarming when people are now scared to say something bc of what might happen to them.

It's like you can watch the slow death of comedy ITT, and it's because of posts like these .

I didn't find any of the jokes funny at all but so what? They are in bad taste and borderline creepy but I've heard worse from comedians and normal dudes that think they are funny.

Ironically that happens (signs of crazy people ) and the FBI dropped the ball more than once.

Again, I get you don't like me including Gunn in this, but it serves a purpose. You don't have to be a comedian to make bad jokes. It also furthers my point about not "really" being offended. Gunn's tweets were ancient, and existed before Disney hired him.

The only reason all that went down is internet troll watch groups were out for blood and starting digging looking for anything offensive. It was not genuine.

Again it shows my point of fake outrage, I shouldn't have to say this again but be clear this isn't a pro-James Gunn thread, but his situation illustrates my point very clearly

And you keep saying he made "10000" child rape jokes. You're clearly being melodramatic about the whole situation. If someone tweeted 10 race jokes would you say definitively that that is a red flag and the person making the jokes is a racist? I mean shite, click on half of the threads on the OT on any given day and you'll see probably 50 iterations of race jokes. Is that a red flag?

I just read the tweets. 4 of them had anything to do with children. I didn't think any of them were particularly funny, but anyone who read all his deleted tweets and then came to the conclusion that this person is a child predator or something like that is absolutely a melodramatic bitch.
