conservatives don't really even have to get involved, there is a daily story on SJWs destroying SJWs based on who can't virtue signal the loudest or who's feewings are more hurt.

again. bullshite.
It's not. Currently there are trolls all over the internet scouring liberal celebrities old tweets trying to find something to use against them. We have seen it multiple times now.

there's a huge difference between calling out hypocrite for being a hypocrite. and ruining someone's life because you don't like their politics.

How so? It has happened multiple times in the last month.
You think people discover those on accident? Surely you are not this naive.

Damn. You are ignoring the calls to for the celebrities to be fired? How does it feel to always be this disingenuous?

James Gunn isn't a comedian
Neither am I, and guess what? I tell jokes all the time. Even some offensive ones.
Comedy is not regulated to comedians. Comedy is a part of life and some people happened to make careers out of it.
Jokes are universal

Seth Rogan caused a scene in front of politician's family purely because he was a Republican. He refused to take a picture with his kids and then insulted their father in front of them.
He's scum of the Earth.
This may be true but the entire point of my post flew 30,000 feet over your head.
You pulled a small portion that had little to do with my point and posted your opinion of Seth Rogen. Good for you but it has nothing to do with the substance of my post

And if you walked around your office telling "jokes" about raping children you'd deservedly be fired.

And that's fine, but they are still jokes.
I'm not talking about Gunn and the action surrounding what happened. Hell I'm not even defending Gunn at all
This is about free speech and, yes some shite can be in bad taste, but that's what makes it comedy.
You can't have free speech with asterisks. Gunn was dumb to post them on Twitter, and the jokes were disturbing, but they were just dumb, bad jokes, obvious terrible jokes.
In high school I had friends that told worse jokes than what he said, and people laughed.
There wasn't a movement started against them. If you didn't like it you moved on

It doesn't mean what liberals want it to mean...that's for sure.

Than you should've left him out of the OP. 10000 Twitter "jokes" (as you like to call them) about child rape isnt just some dude trying to be funny....it's a red flag.

What do you think wouldve happened if your friends "joked" about shooting up your school?
Also...this isn't a first amendment issue

Some of the funniest movies that were made just a decade ago would NEVER be made today. 40 yr old Virgin, Wedding Crashers, Superbad...not a chance.
holy shite dude.
what about those movies make it where they wouldnt be made today?
something like Sanford and Son would never be made today, not fricking wedding crashers or superbad (which was an overrated pile of garbage)

Sure, but they have to eat and currently society deems total career annihilation as the proper punishment for offensive material.
Really?
The guys who have had their careers ruined (or setback) are not in that position for their comedy material. They're in that position because they did shitty things to other people....ya know, like rape or sexual assault.
The only guy I can think of whose material really became a career-breaker was Michael Richards when he was caught on camera during a set flinging about the N-word and wasn't even trying to be funny.
I've found that most comedians are doing a great job of ignoring, as the OP put it, the "joke police". Which is a damn good thing because as time goes on and people become more accustomed to raunchiness through porn, violence through TV, and less civil due to social media interactions, comedians are going to have to REALLY step up their game to push boundaries. Because, really, a whooole lot of great comics rely on the ability to push boundaries to get laughs.
