re: So what's the deal with Amazon Prime not being 2 day shipping?

Their shipping is late pretty consistently for me. I ordered a tool and it was almost a week late. Amazon offered to cancel the order with a refund. It was an Amazon shipped item in stock and not 3rd party. They tried to blame UPS who never recieved the package. I eventually complained after I got fed up and they offered me a $5 credit. I miss the old Amazon when they actually were efficient.

I can get it same day here
It's awesome isn't it?
Hell...they will deliver in less than 2 hours out here.

They switched the bulk of their shipping from UPS to USPS not long ago (at least around BR). I try to order everything online through prime - the last 6 months-1year has the been the weakest delivery performance I’ve experienced over the last 5-6 years using Amazon Prime.

They are depending more on the postal service for the "last segment" as well. They are trying cut cost anywhere possible as Prime is killing their margins. Anytime the postal service is contracted for the last mile, I always get a delivery attempted but no one was home on the guaranteed delivery date and it comes a day late. It's always bullshite as I'm usually home when the notification pops up.

Ive been hearing for a couple of years that Walmart is targeting to compete with Amazon. Amazon is giving every opportunity in the world for someone to come in and rival them. My Amazon experience has nose dived in the last year. I probably wont renew my Prime next year.

I order a lot of shite from Amazon. I've never had a problem with them. My only problems have been with Fedex and UPS. Amazon re-sent the packages ASAP, no questions asked.

I don't think I've ever gotten something later than next day. Yes this includes Sundays. Perhaps I don't order exotic things

They give you a free month every time something is late

i ordered a smoker on a Sunday at 4 pm. This was before Amazon Prime.
It arrrived on Tuesday by 2pm. A fricking enormous smoker. And I did not pay anythng for shipping.
After that, I have never complained if it was a day or so late on my flashlight batteries or spatula or BBQ rub.

I gotta say this made me laugh. Can't argue the free shipping schtick on the internet doesn't work!

The Weber smoker was $299 at the Lowes by my house. It was $299 on Amazon delivered to my door.
That is free shipping.
That is free shipping.

Hell I didn't know weber made any $300 products

Agreed. 'Amazon Prime' no longer means 2 day shipping...can mean any damn thing. To find out when it will actually ship and arrive is a bullshite puzzle now. Between that and 10% sales tax, I'm looking for an alternative.

This is why I cancelled prime. It kept happening to me and it wasn't worth it.

That happens if it's not in stock. You have to pay attention to shipping dates when buying.

We order a lot from Amazon Prime. Occasional beyond 2 day delivery delays usually have more to do with orders made thru outside distributors. But almost always that info is clearly printed on the site before the order is placed, and sometimes other distributors can keep it inside the 2 day delivery window. Another thing - here in Bradenton, I’m noticing they seem to be increasingly using what looks like Uber-type drivers to make deliveries to my door - and they, like UPS, will still ring the doorbell.

This. If you pay attention in your cart, it will tell you estimated shipping, which might not be 2 days. Details....
